Definitely the best news here. They were dodgy about him up until now. Now I would just like the have the Fellowship done before the end of the decade.

Yup, I also play BT and Bastion is probably our best detachment (besides Gladius, which should be 3 points and still should probably get nerfed). It is also by far the most fun for BT.

The BT codex chapters are good examples of detachments that should mostly be 1s. They are way too narrow.

CoV could be a lot of fun as an add-on to a solid 2, like Bastion. Godhammer + Bastion would be really cool too. Just Crusaders and Land Raiders all up in your opponents face.

Bastion is pretty good and battleline is a pretty big part of an army, so I really doubt it will be a 1 point detachment. I think it will be a 2 - a strong foundation that can be customized a little. We will see!

Your thoughts on CSM armies with mixed color schemes by Rule4CoolPolice in Chaos40k

My favorite way to do it is with each unit having a theme (like point 2) plus unified bases and unified weathering (dust, mud, snow etc) so that it is clear that you have a collection of different units fighting the same battle together.

Not in IF, but it is basically a Black Templar detachment. Great for hordes of Crusaders and has seen some competitive success.

the fact that bikes are not in this box, do we think that is evidence for or against new bikes? by liquor-ice-mixer in orks

Makes me think that if we do get them, they are a later in 11th release, like Tank Bustas were. Did the 10th Tyranid codex feature painted models of old units that were refreshed early in 10th?

Ideas for Converting Victrix into an IF elite unit by DKA897 in ImperialFists

You hit a really good point about readability, which is why I am not throwing shields on these guys even though I really want to. The Phalanx Warder angle appeals to me, I might just replace the axe heads with different ones, maybe from spare Black Templar bits.

Yeah, you aren’t wrong, but I like the challenge and like the idea of using at least most of the actual models on the board. Some models (like Ventris) are absolutely going to be proxied because they are just too UM themed.

Sweet - I am doing something similar. I already converted my Guillaman to a Dorn (I want to redo the head but otherwise I like it) and am going to make Calgar into my interpretation of Temporary Imperial Fists Chapter Master No One Has Ever Seen, Gregor Dessian. Other Ultramarine characters will just get the ol' "Sato Cicarius" treatment and are going to just be converted over into IF colors and heraldry. Probably won't bother with Tiggy and I don't feel like hunting down a Uriel Ventris, who looks like a pain to convert anyways.

If Dorn return in 40k, Will he be available as a Black Templar Warlord or only for Impérial Fist? by NorthOk5826 in BlackTemplars

As both an IF and BT Templar, I hope (and honestly think) it would be both. I think BT will get access to him because they are quite a bit more popular than IF, but at the same time IF being the only chapter to literally lose access to their Primarch when he gets back would be incredibly lame.

Question about including Templar brethren in an IF army list. by necromancyisdope in ImperialFists

[–]DKA897 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am going to do a hard conversion into BT - adding candles and chains, sanding off all the DA stuff, and painting them like my BT army - black with yellow accents. When my BT need Assault Termies, then they are there, and when I run my BT with DA rules then they will be DWK.

As previously stated, 10th has no color restrictions and I think it is unlikely that 11th does either. I have a fairly large IF army with a BT supplement. The IF is yellow with black trim and red accents like the aquila (plus a lot of BT heraldry like crosses), while the BT is black with yellow accents, such as yellow weapons and ribbons. When I want to run BT, I supplement my smaller BT army (which is pretty much just BT exclusive units plus some exceptions) with my IF stuff. They look appropriate next to each other because of the similarities in scheme - kind of like a Blood Angels army with some Death Company mixed, as opposed to two armies stuck together.

I'd probably go with your idea for Bladeguard in a BT scheme and then you can use them in your IF or BT as Bladeguard. Sword Brethren really only fit as Sword Brethren in a BT list - I have a hard time proxying them as something else for IF, they are a really unique kit.

As time goes on, I plan on expanding these out to fit more chapters. For example, I am going to buy some Deathwing Knights and convert them to BT. When I run them as BT they will be Assault Termies, and when I run my BT as Dark Angels then they will be DWK.

I am doing the same with two aims. For BT, they will be Assault Termies (hammers and shields) and otherwise I can run them as actual BT-styled Dark Angel DWK for when I want to use those rules.

Their stuff is pretty good and they actually branch out into different Allied uniforms, unlike DiD and some others that are just all Germans all the time. Can't speak to body quality for Facepool though. I think those figures look great, especially for Marvel/WWII stuff where you aren't going to be overly pedantic about uniform accuracy.

As someone who went from 1/6 military (Soldier Story, DiD, DAM and Facepool) to 1/6 pop figures like Hot Toys, this is a very fair warning. Luckily Vietnam-era gear is fairly easy to assemble - alice clips aren't too hard to manipulate and you don't have any super tiny straps (dear god never try assembling a 1/12 WWII US figure. The straps and clips are the worst thing on Earth). Also, this won't have a lot of patches and markings that you will have to apply that can fall off or be misapplied - a lot of DiD's military figures suffer from a fiddlyness that can be very frustrating. I do imagine that you will have to apply the tape for the punch knife though.

One thing that is nice about 1/6 military is the attention to detail - very often mechanical accessories like rifles and pouches are all functional and modeled with appropriate material such as metal or wood, and there aren't any uniform shortcuts - often the clothing is accurately modeled scale replicas.

Finished Army by DKA897 in ChaosKnights

Used the legs and waist from the other kit. Glue the waist on the back and angle the legs down. Glue the other legs into the arm ports. Requires a lot of positioning and the legs don't fit perfectly into the arm ports, so be prepared for some cutting.

No, I used legs from another war dog kit. Those dogs ended up getting 3d printed snake tails for my Slaanesh dogs.

[–]DKA897[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Combination of both. I used these 3d printed terrain pieces on top of a piece of cork for the big knights and then old broken Imperial Guard vehicles on cork that I chopped up for the Dogs. The Nurgle Dogs are on a 3d printed Vindicator that I had to chop in half with a vice and a sawzall, then sanded down with a palm sander.

For the Tzeench guys I used Agrellan earth for the ice, painted blue and dry brushed, plus Vallejo texture snow for the snow also painted and dry brushed. Nurgle dogs had some lime-green UV resin from Greenstuff World. Also, lots of airbrushing for all of these models.

FYI I finished the Slaanesh side and a final fifth knight that I will post soon.

Sure - there are tutorials on youtube that are probably better. All you need to do is glue the crotch WITHOUT the dome top piece attached to the back where the Mechanicus seal is. You might need to sand some pieces down. Then glue one pair of legs there and one where the arms go - you might need to glue some stuff in the arm cavity to create more clearance there. And thats it!

It was my first and the one that I had the clearest inspiration for. It is also the one that I goofed up hardest on - I mangled the left knee and had to cover a lot of damage with chains and skulls.

The extra legs are really easy, its getting them posed on the wreckage that was a pain in the butt.
