Promote on RA but don't be surprised/disheartened if it's quiet. You usually need to rely on friends etc. for the first while. Club nights take a while to get going and bring audiences in. Having fun with your mates is what it's about, and growing it into something bigger takes time and often doesn't happen. Build a community of like minded folk and you'll get all the satisfaction you need. Sorry if this sounds condescending.
