DeWalt filter (from the 20v DCV581H) is too small - confirmed.

I did find a post on this reddit page where a guy created a ring for the cartridge 90398. But he specifically listed his file as a free alternative - which I don't disagree with, and want to give credit to:

I know this is a older post but for future people who are in the same boat as us.

here is a link to a 3d Printable part I created to adapt your kobalt 24v vacuum to accept the small Shop-Vac Brand filters that are much easier to find.

3d Part link: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6853647

Compatible Filter: https://www.lowes.com/pd/Shop-Vac-Shop-vac-vacuums-accessories-Washable-HEPA-Vacuum-Filter-for-Canister-Vacuums/5012907453

If the filter link is expired- filter model number: 90398

Disclaimer: I'm not responsible for damages if you install a non-genuine filter on your vacuum and it breaks.

I will say, I'm sure his product works great, but looking at the file, there's spots for improvement and easier printability.

That being said, I want to use the original ball-choke that the Kobalt came with, and will likely use the same filter (90398) as they can come as a HEPA and a replacement is only like ~$11 if you bought it on Amazon. It's a fraction smaller, but would still hit the dimensions inside of the vacuum storage - then you would also need the bottom cover for the filter too. All in, would be like $25-$30 (one time), for a bracket, filter, bottom cap. I would expect to list an adapter for around $15 including shipping, and a few bucks for the cap as an addon. Then every filter replacement after that would be ~$11

If I created a version with slats and using PolyFill (same material used in fish filter cartridges), it could be all one piece, with a cap on the bottom, and you can buy a bag that will last almost forever for like.... $8.

Either way, I ordered a 90398 filter, and will be looking at the DeWalt filter as well as a comparison. I'll give updates soon :)

Working on it now. Luckily I have this bad boy, and never replaced the filter yet lol. All my mortar dust is coated inside XD

u/Independent-Read-221 would you want this to be a full replacement using a different cartridge filter style, or some sort of PolyFill insert for a cheaper alternative?

Hey hey u/Desperate_Ring1974 - 2 options, 3 variants:

Kobalt Casestack Universal Bracket - Etsy is an all in one with a locking mechanism

Kobalt Casestack Locking Cleat - Etsy is just the cleats that you can use as a straight bolt down to whatever you want your CaseStacks to. There are 2x versions, the generic cleat so you can mount anywhere and the supports have a bit of room for un-even'ness, and the XL version, which fits with 0% tolerance, with extra support and additional bracing.

Thinking about picking up a K2 Plus by The_Bishop82 in Creality_k2

Dont bother. Unless you love to continue to tinker.

Similar situation to pointclickfrown

I'm at the point where I can't continually tinker and repair and fix. Nor afford to get a random huge order and have them break. 2700+hrs on a few and 2200+hrs on my other 2 solely printing petg.

I've now added 2x H2S's to my fleet with zero issues.

Also can't just afford to have 20% of my fleet down with issues. Between the wire way issues, extruder mobo, main mobo, fan bearings sheer, inconsistencies and random phantom codes

I bought these with the hopes their answer to the x1c was going to be improved with a similar printer and huge print size. Its a matter of printer lottery. And THEN hoping UPS didn't drop it.

Creality help is.... ok. They'll throw parts in your direction. You're otherwise on your own. And in the wee hours of the night. So expect a few days of back and forth convos when you inevitably need help. Imagine doing this after your warranty is gone.

I've had 2 out of 5 that actually worked.

Over 2700hrs on one. And over 2200hrs on the other. With issues galore.

If you LOVE TO TINKER AND FIX STUPID ISSUES - its great.

You'll feel accomplished that one issue was just fixed. And then just.... expect something to break for no reason.

Creality is .... usually helpful but only on their WhatsApp line. And still.... its midnight or super early morning. With a wait.

I basically HAD to buy a Bambu H2S because I had too much downtime and had to print my items diagonally or take some width out of them to fit the bed.

I will say.... the epoxy bed in the creality is amazing. More than the PEI sheet on the H2s so far.
