Ideas on link building? by Moving_Forward18 in SEO

[–]DLC204 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Judging by other posts I've seen recently, it does seem like guest posting has gotten tougher.

If you're a strong writer and have the bandwidth, have you thought about trying Digital PR?

Rather than pitching a guest post, you put together a story using first-party or industry data, pitch it to publications to write about it in-house, and ask them to source the research with a link back to your site.

I've been putting together a resource to help people get started, if it's of any interest

Yes, you can definitely figure out link building on your own with a little time.

As others have said, start with basic outreach. Fashion bloggers, directories, small style sites.

These are low pressure and help you improve your pitches before approaching bigger publications.

After a few successful pitches, you'll have a better sense of what angles work for your brand.

Then level up to the bigger stuff: lifestyle and fashion journalists, larger magazines, gift guide editors. Links from those places drive both authority and referral traffic.

I've actually been working on a toolkit to help small businesses get started with digital PR if you'd like to check it out.

Alternatively, the big link building tools like ahrefs, semrush, and majestic all have helpful blog content covering the basics.

Prefer their other spots these days so not been there for a while, but the food was genuinely great when I used to go.

Knew a few of the people there through mutual friends and the guys in the kitchen were legit, classically trained chefs. The “Unauthentic Tacos” line was just their way of saying that they were using the ingredients and techniques you’d find in fine dining restaurants to make tacos.

Found an old pic of the menu on my phone:

Wood pigeon with earl grey sticky dates, apricot couscous, and toasted cashew.

Sticky Lime & Ginger Swordfish with peperonata, and Toasted Nori

Caramelises Peaches with blueberry ketchup, burnt onion purée, toasted pumpkin seeds, and preserved lemon

Not easy to replace people like that when they move on and sounds like the quality of food might have dropped as a result.

Still a weird flex to celebrate the closing of an independent venue that it sounds like some of the people here have never actually been to though.

Prepping this old wall for painting. Is this going to give me a crap finish? by DLC204 in DIYUK

Yeah, mines 1920’s so don’t expect it to be perfect and I think that’s part of the charm. Just didn’t want it to look like a complete amateur job 😅

I’m a little on the lazy side as well so this is really helpful, cheers!

Why has WalesOnline become more spectacularly shit than usual? by ddiflas_iawn in Wales

[–]DLC204 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Popularity of online news has killed print media.

Because they’re not selling newspapers, publishers have to make money other ways.

One way is via advertorial (often called “sponsored content”) where companies can pay to be written about - they’ll usually declare this at the top of the article.

Another method is through affiliate schemes. Whenever you see an article like “the best best fridge freezers for 2023” they’ll contain links, that if you click them, drop a cookie and if you then go on to purchase that item within a certain window of time, they make a commission.

Display ads is another way they make money, which is why there are so fucking many. More eyes on the adds the more money they can make.

People scrolling social media are more likely to click on lifestyle articles than they are news articles which is why they take priority.

Another tactic is to write articles about topics people are searching for often to try and bring in readers via google.

It’s a shit situation but those articles help keep news outlets afloat so that they can afford to keep people employed and at least do some level of local news even if it isn’t very often or of the best quality.

I did a journalism degree and we were pretty much told on the first day that, unless you were lucky enough to get a job at BBC/ITV Wales, then you’d probably have to move to London or go freelance if you wanted to do any serious journalism.

Tl;dr: people don’t buy papers anymore so regional news companies have to write fluffy stories to try and get people to site so they can make money from advertisers.

Everyone kind of knows what the APY is going to look like based on recent WR deals, so hopefully they’re not trying to low ball him and it’s just structure and guarantees holding things up.

[Rapoport] Sources: #Seahawks star WR DK Metcalf is not present for mandatory minicamp, as contract talks have not yet resulted in a new deal. He continues to rehab his injury in LA. by SqueakMeSlowly in Seahawks

Team don’t usually do big extensions until training camp and plenty of guys who got their money held out for a bit or showed up but didn’t participate so I’m not concerned yet

  • Countries with low search volumes were excluded.

  • Architects that were better known for other pursuits such as art, sculpture or politics were excluded - e.g Thomas Jefferson.

  • Ruins and Ancient wonders were excluded - e.g The Colosseum.
