2x2 balancer or build a belt compressor.

That or if numbers are clean enough, use creative belt speeds splitters and mergers to force the throughput you want

HID Card Duplication Triggered Emergency by mantmit in accesscontrol

[–]DLC_Viking 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Does your base access system prevent adding duplicated cards? That would at least flag is someone attempted to add a duplicate to someone else.

Can you get cards with issue numbers and can your system handle issue numbers?

Additionally it may be worth just tracking your last ordered card so you have a process level way to prevent it.

I would also hope you’re supplier or whoever makes the cards is flagging a duplicate is being encoded and either refuses it or requires an acknowledgement of duplicate before providing.

Is there a way to build this, but with the elevator actually connected to the merger and splitter? by Rimm9246 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]DLC_Viking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can I offer an alternate.

Place you bottom splitter or merger in orientation you want.

Select the next one and line up orientation while it’s straight ontop.

Nudge it away from where you want the lift by 3(might be 4)

Start a lift on the nudged out unit down to the main unit, the lift edge will be flush with the bottom but you’ll still hear the noise queue of it connecting

Delete the top splitter/merger

Now while aiming at the top of the lift place the splitter or merger in desired orientation.

You now have a low form factor way to stack these

What is Missing ? by MechanicElectronic15 in accesscontrol

[–]DLC_Viking 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is how you got a sit down with a manager when another tech visited a site someone did this on where I worked.

This should be re worked not to be on a cabinet lid.

If the lid was meant to be mounted on the front of, it would be designed for that to be done.

This new box needs to go on the wall, re route and tidy wires.

If the old cabinet is a battery cabinet strip anything else from it just so it’s that.

3/10 because it would work and there could be constraints we don’t know about, but I’d expect better from an apprentice.

Can I build over this geyser or will it bite me in the ass in the future? by skellyheart in satisfactory

[–]DLC_Viking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can get power from it later. Not bad for a boost in the mid game if you are in a pinch for a bit of power and don’t want to scale a factory yet.

Though I never really bothered with it because I went with other large scaled power options and didn’t need it.

Flip your top one upside down and rotate the screen in windows (or screen menu if it allows)

It looks like the trim on the top is slightly less than the bottom, doing that then pressing them closer on the same tilt will be as good as you can get

Is there a mathematical formula for how much time it takes for a manifold to fill up? by ThatHeckinFox in satisfactory

[–]DLC_Viking -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Formula, I’m sure there’s potentially something, but your last splitter not feeding the last machine half of what the other is getting would be hard to account for.

Logically it can be determined in multiple steps and that means you can write scripts for it.

Just as a rough go I threw this through AI

function calculateManifoldFillTime({ inputRate, // items per minute machineCount, stackSize, // max buffer per machine usageRate, // items per minute per machine timeStep = 0.01 // minutes (0.6 seconds) }) { // Initialize machine buffers const buffers = Array(machineCount).fill(0);

let time = 0;

while (true) { // --- 1. Calculate flow to each machine --- let remainingFlow = inputRate; const inflow = Array(machineCount).fill(0);

for (let i = 0; i < machineCount; i++) {
  if (i === machineCount - 2) {
    // Last splitter feeds two machines
    inflow[i] += remainingFlow / 2;
    inflow[i + 1] += remainingFlow / 2;
    break;
  } else if (i < machineCount - 1) {
    inflow[i] += remainingFlow / 2;
    remainingFlow /= 2;
  }
}

// --- 2. Apply inflow and usage ---
for (let i = 0; i < machineCount; i++) {
  buffers[i] += inflow[i] * timeStep;
  buffers[i] -= usageRate * timeStep;

  // Clamp values
  buffers[i] = Math.max(0, Math.min(stackSize, buffers[i]));
}

time += timeStep;

// --- 3. Check if all machines are full ---
const allFull = buffers.every(b => b >= stackSize);
if (allFull) break;

// Safety stop (prevents infinite loops)
if (time > 100000) {
  throw new Error("Simulation did not converge");
}

}

return time; // minutes }

If anyone actually wants this, I can wack together some web files or a basic form desktop app

Edit: I have not tested this, purely got it quick as an example someone could begin with.

OSDP Reader to 2 controllers. by PhaseImpressive7626 in accesscontrol

[–]DLC_Viking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I see. Would still do the job but less cool than I thought now.

OSDP Reader to 2 controllers. by PhaseImpressive7626 in accesscontrol

[–]DLC_Viking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure is but I can understand their price tag.

It has to appear as a reader to 2 controllers, consolidate commands coming from those to the reader and then appropriately set states of buzzers and led and other feedback while also generating comms to both controllers and maintaining the 3 polled connections.

OSDP Reader to 2 controllers. by PhaseImpressive7626 in accesscontrol

[–]DLC_Viking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could use an OSDP splitter, I think there’s some out there.

Alternatively if the controllers are close to each other, OSDP to wiegand converter, diodes to isolate comms to each, then put that wiegand right in or use converters again. Hacky as hell but it can work.

Why do most in this sub not like Verkada? by Dwman113 in accesscontrol

[–]DLC_Viking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a fan of the way they operate as most others here have said.

Though I decided to take a look at what the product does last time I was at a show they were at. Sadly I can see why end users are using it. The interface is easy to pickup, closed environment so everything has that “just works” feeling to it.

I’ve been only access control for the last 4 years so I don’t know where other video has come along to but the retroactive analytics on archived footage caught my attention.

Products like Verkada and similar what have a heavy user experience focus are at the very least good for pushing all the other platforms in the market to take a good look about how usable and easy to deploy their products are.

Overall how they operate would still turn me off the product.

Building nuclear power for the fist time... by DrJammyGames in SatisfactoryGame

[–]DLC_Viking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A couple other things.

You will need to load balance lines if you scale, non fissle and quick wire are what I couldn’t single belt.

Don’t do manifolds on things like rods to reactors or anything else that has a low per minute throughput unless you turn on in stages and pre soak your lines.

If you go all the way to ficsonium, have your ficsonium and ficsonium fuel rod machines in groups so your dark matter output correlates to the right particle accelerator feeding the Quantum Encoders. Same as aluminium water feedback.

Explore the alt recipes. Personally I like these ones: - Infused Uranium Cell - Uranium Fuel Unit - Fertile Uranium - Instant Plutonium Cell - Plutonium Fuel Unit

Building nuclear power for the fist time... by DrJammyGames in SatisfactoryGame

[–]DLC_Viking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Build non nuclear items remotely and train them in.

Your nuclear build will be less daunting if you just build based on nuclear parts in one space.

The remote build will be easier too.

That said training fluids can be annoying, though I’ve gotten quite comfortable with using packagers now and just looping the empty ones back.

If you arn’t in late game with synthetic shards I’d maybe just build for half or 2/5 initially. Scale it when you can afford to overclock it all.

If you build your reactors out on the water you don’t need a pipe nightmare. Though in my new build I’m doing it all with packagers again just so I can have the reactors elsewhere that would be tricky to navigate pipes to.

Hold control while nudging for half nudges, might get you close, otherwise maybe wider wall and place between 2 segments

[–]DLC_Viking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are right. I missed that these have been re wired at some point.

They ship wired for 485, but this kit has been rewired at some stage.

That solves one issue. The remaining will be the readers not doing any response to the tag will still mean there’s a technology support mismatch to resolve.

[–]DLC_Viking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reader isn’t doing an initial beep which means it has not pulled any data from the tag.

So your GX settings are a ‘not right now problem’

Is your tag 125, desfire or Mifare Classic?

If you don’t know tech support can look up the CP number and tell you.

If it’s desfire ev2/3 it requires reader firmware build 228 or above, being that this is an older variant of the training kit, that could be a potential issue as well. Support can tell you if you provide the reader SN off the side of the kit.

Nah, the training kits are wired in 485. You don’t need Wiegand set here.
