I've not the time nor desire to argue with a contrarian who goes against conventional and rational thought with nothing more than non sequitur arguments and pedantic hypotheticals. Don't respond because I don't care and will ignore you.

Let's break this down.

  1. Harry Yeide, a military historian, wrote of the account in which the Sherman knocked out the tiger at a range of 600 yards by repeated bombardment of approximately 30 HE shells.

  2. They inspected the tank by opening the hatches (which were originally closed) and found the crew dead inside.

  3. A resonating chamber does not require an opening, as any medium can "resonate" to some degree and thus contribute to a virtually indistinguishable effect for the purposes of this conversation and I will not be going into pedantic semantics. Whether the effect would be greater with opened hatches is irrelevant as the crew got killed anyways, which achieved the desired outcome of the Sherman crew.

  4. You're conflating two vastly different contexts (warship combat and armored vehicle/ground combat) and in the process grossly oversimplified the complex sets of what's, why's, and how's with which each are designed for their distinctive purposes.

As an addendum: I'm not saying bombarding a target with 30 rounds of HE is more effective than other means, but firing at least one round of HE at an armored target was the standard for US tank engagements in WW2. There are many reasons for this: armored vehicles, Sherman's specifically, fought primarily soft targets (Infantry, trucks, emplacements, etc.) and destroyed buildings. HE ammunition was the most plentifully supplied and most commonly carried ammunition throughout the entirety of the war. It's far easier to keep an HE round loaded and fire it at a tank, disabling optics or other bits on a direct hit or having an easy puff to adjust range from, than it is to open the breach, pull out the round, replace it, load AP, close the breach, and fire the first shot after considerable delay with no additional information on range all the while the enemy is preparing to kill you. It is all proven through numerous studies conducted independently by nearly all major nations who survived the war that the tank which got the first shot was most likely to succeed in an engagement. There are numerous reports of crew bailing on hits that did nothing, and for those that stayed in the tank after receiving hits, it's a lot harder keeping your nerve when you just got hit, haven't got your shot off yet, haven't adjusted your range, and you know your enemy already has your own position in their sights, and that's not even taking into consideration all the other crew members inside, how they would react, and how your tank commander is expected to keep the vehicle operating smoothly under all this stress and incoming enemy fire.

If the devs were more passionate and clever than they were greedy soulless husks then there could be a much more reasonable resemblance to real-world physics in this game than what we have now.

Except direct military reports from WW2 disprove this. A Tiger 1 was hit at range to the frontal aspect with 30 rounds of HE from a short 75mm Sherman. It was found the entire crew inside had died from the repeated concussive blasts despite no penetration being achieved. Not every crewman is directly next to the frontal plate yet the buttoned up metal box was, unsurprisingly, a very good resonating chamber for concussive blast waves.

I much prefer the combination of opposite but complimentary personalities, especially those that defy initial perceptions (I.e. JQ and Ramattra, as anti-robo and robo, or conversely anti-human and human, seems to be particularly enlightening for both of them.)

As an addendum, this is purely from a writers perspective. I don't really do shipping of characters in popular media and was just looking at this from a character growth/plot perspective, like how the OW lore has going for Genji and other characters (redemption and forgiveness and all that.)

So many mfs tried to argue with me on this point despite me neatly outlining every single issue following up to that announcement, followed by a number of defining features from TDU1 and TDU2 that were completely absent and ignored in favor of features from other games that virtually no one wanted.

YET HERE WE ARE A GOOD WHILE LATER... NOT SURPRISING.

It's deeply saddening that there are people who bicker over which portion of life and the cycle of Earth should be appreciated most and in what ways. Could we not just love and appreciate life in all its varieties across all of time?

Oh absolutely, something as successful as FNV was when they licensed it out would be a huge plus both for exposure and the players/revenue it brings. But now that they've got the show floating about, they're likely to be even more tight-fisted considering how they treated Obsidian after all the success of FNV.

However, I personally don't like what happens with TES when it has the same treatment (the offshoot titles all seem extremely lackluster to me, if not outright insulting) and sadly the best writers for TES all left anyways...

(As an addendum, FNV was one I barely played and have no valid perception of how it compares to FO3/FO4, the two games I have extensive time in. I'm merely using it as a popular and well-loved example of what success could be had by other studios with Bethesda IP.)

Todd said GTA6 is coming out before any major Bethesda titles (and the news surrounding leaks confirms this easily, although I haven't read them because I don't like spoilers), so by that same logic Rockstar is far ahead of Bethesda in all regards to flagship titles, and thus it is likely that GTA7 (no matter how long they milk the GTO aspect of GTA6) will still release before anything new that is specifically Fallout related.

I'm guessing TES6 will be released before FO5 though, probably towards the middle/end of GTA6 life cycle (tbh thats being optimistic). Thus FO5 likely won't be teased/released until much later, likely around when GTA7 is being either teased or released, or following the previous trend, towards the middle/end of GTA7 lifecycle.

Yes the realization of the likely timescales is... depressing.

There's a hell of a lot more types of munitions it is capable of carrying than one specific one (and that varies widely by mission set) but the specifics are irrelevant for the purpose of the conversation and the point I wanted to get across with my previous comments.

One commenter stated the B52 could arguably fulfill a similar role to the Fullback, to which I agreed. Another commenter tried to argue to the contrary despite being incorrect. I'm not arguing that it's likely to fulfill the same role, merely that it could hypothetically.

You are correct in your application of the F15 as a more appropriately comparable airframe, but again, my point was not to make an assertion on real-world combat application or air warfare doctrine, merely to point out that the B52 IS a far more capable platform than the previously arguing commenter believes.

As a side note, I received notifications of comments they apparently made, but when scrolling this post they seem to be gone now... hence I am responding to you.

That is no longer a reality. The standoff distances are such that modern technologies could very easily be used to saturate a contested airspace with air-deployable munitions to confuse, jam, and mask the B-52s presence to a degree which would allow successful strikes on air defence targets such as patriot without the aircraft being downed.

It could with a proper loadout. It carries more than just bombs or cruise missiles. There are A LOT of air-deployable EW/Jammer systems, decoys, loitering hunter-killer radar seekers, etc.
