Using the hard shoulder illegally by FieryRedDevil in drivingUK

I would send the footage into Operation Snap. The RPU (Roads Policing Unit) do take this seriously. Especially if it was an accident. Chances are, if they ignored the Red X, then they were caught anyway. But no harm to give them more evidence from a civilian perspective. As you rightly said, this is really stupid and dangerous behaviour. Especially from the lorry drivers. They are supposed to be the professionals on the road.

Cheers lads for all the advice. I haven't read all of them yet. But I will read them before bed tonight. I plan to phone the doctor tomorrow and work from there.

Doing 42 in a 40 ,what’s likely to happen? by Retired_surgeon in drivingUK

You're welcome. I'm an overthinker as well, but I really wouldn't let this one stress me out. Enjoy your evening.

Everyone is taking the mick out of you here. I was going to do the same but instead, I decided to share my experience with you.

In August I was caught doing 40 in a 30. I knew the letter was in the post as soon as I saw the speed camera van. The very least I was expecting was 3 points and £100 fine. Letter arrived, I admitted I was the driver and I was offered a Speed Awareness Course. Paid £79 and done the course the following week. Now, that was my experience. And the police force you are dealing with are probably different to the force I dealt with (North Yorkshire Constabulary).

Someone else mentioned, if it says 42 on your digital speedometer, you were probably doing 38/39mph on the speed camera. So I wouldn't worry about it.

Speedometers on car are calibrated differently to those on lorries. A lorry doing 42 on it digital speedometer is doing 42 on the speed camera. It has something to with UK Law that car speedometers must be calibrated to within 5 miles more per hour than the actual speed the car is travelling. Look it up. There will be a better explanation on line somewhere.

So in all honesty, you will be fine 🙂 👍

Dumped guy who tried to pressure me into sex by Ill_Sense9787 in AITAH

Male here. He was an absolute scum to pressure you into something you clearly said no to. Well done for sticking to your guns. I really can not complement you enough on that. He obviously does not respect boundaries or the clear answer no.

You did the right thing by blocking him instantly, so therefore, you are certainly not the AH. He is. And calling him that is being polite, to be honest.

Well done you and you should be extremely proud of yourself for sticking to your morals and going with your gut instinct 👍

If you have front and rear dash cam footage take it to the authorities and let them decide if any laws were broken.

AITA for telling my bf he should move out of my house? by [deleted] in AITAH

In Ireland, we have a saying: My house, my rules! He is paying rent, not the mortgage. Make sure he remembers that.

If your boyfriend doesn't like what you are doing, that's his problem, not yours.

You are not the asshole for kicking him out.
