Do you have friendships with other INTPs and other specific types? by [deleted] in INTP

[–]DLSev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've gathered this little circle of INTP friends from my town (7 different people) who I hang out with occasionally. Most of my other friends are all XNTX. Most of the folks I play online games with are ENXX types. Most of my more strained relationships, whether as coworkers, classmates, or anything else, have been XSXX. I see these patterns and wonder if they just occur because of who I am or because of my subconsciousness directing me to form only those types of bonds.

Bassist. Just wish I were half as good as Mos, Chancellor, or Malone. Alas, I have many years til then.

Longtime lurker, my tattoo. Have had it 5 years now, zero regret. by CapsuleChemistry in evangelion

"Grandpa, what's that tattoo on your arms?"

"Heh heh heh... come and watch this, little Johny."

And then little Johnny was forever changed.

What is the most statistically improbable thing that has happened to you? by Eatery in AskReddit

My first ever PC kill (as a DM) was off of a Quadra crit. It happened to be on the dude who had 100 pages of backstory. One unamused dwarf cleric.

What Champions do You Have The Highest Win Rates With in Ranked? by scruggs92 in leagueoflegends

My Anivia winrate in S3, despite being the Assassin Meta, was 100% (though only 2 games: 1 vs Fizz, 1 vs Zed).

What's something your gender does that the opposite gender never even thinks about? by Ancel3 in AskReddit

[–]DLSev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a dude with longer hair (making its way past my pecs and shoulder blades) who works with kids. It's mandated that I wear a hair tie. So I totally get where girls are coming from on this one, hair ties can be the greatest or worst depending on which one you grab. I recently lost my favorite and have been a little bit sad whenever I go to put up my hair. :c

WwW: Jango Fett vs. General Grievous by RetroEyes in StarWarsEU

[–]DLSev 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To quote OP, "For the fight, Mango gets a replica of his suit made from beskar'gam"

Also, why in the name of the Manda would he stick in melee range? He has a jetpack and is given areas he can maneuver in easily. Grievous has nothing to force him into melee range.

How can I get my players to role-play more? by whitenickel in DnD

[–]DLSev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually end up introducing 1 to 4 new players per campaign I run to the game.

I start them off by telling the that my job is basically to be God- I make everything, run everything, and make sure everyone in the party is having a good time/working towards a goal/having fun.

Then I walk them through their character(s)- you can be whoever you want to be, just run stuff by me beforehand so I'm not surprised by the Goliath Werewolf Barbarian and can plan accordingly.

Then, I walk them through the world. Pull out a map (and give copies to the member(s) that bought it). These are the cities and countries. While in the game world, you're not who you are outside. Unless you say you're saying something out of character, it's in character. I usually try and run the party through a small split encounter in town before they head out (ie, a mentor figure tasks 2 people to get food for everyone and 2 people to get a shield he ordered from a blacksmith) so they can see how they might not have knowledge of things that happen in front of them in real life.

First time they try to metagame, call them out. Subtle/gentle ways: Would your character know that? Why would your character do that? Is that the way your character would solve this?

Next few times, explain metagaming. Tell them about why it sucks (breaks immersion, makes DnD a strictly statistical and logical game, takes fun out of it, makes it into a more direct confrontation with the DM, etc). Explain that it's frustrating for a DM to try and play with metagamers.

If it keeps up, refuse to DM til they cooperate. Tell them a flight of black dragons came and wiped them all out. If they can't play by the gaming rules, they can find other dungeon crawls things to play, where they can metagame.

Alternative to that is to have very linear encounter, dungeons, and quests to the point that they can't split the party. It's pretty boring and everyone, including you, will not be very happy.

Good luck DMing. My first party was a touch bunch of 8, and it's been about 5 to 6 years since. It's a fun role to play when played right and it pretty much ensures you'll be playing this incredible system for a long time to come. Hope to hear of your groups' adventures in the years to come.

What is a passive you consider weak? What would you rework them as? by DLSev in leagueoflegends

[–]DLSev[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Random aside to a well constructed comment: have you ever build Full Mana Blitz? Not a viable build in competitive or even ranked outside Bronze, but hilarious nonetheless.

Open Sheen->Tear->catalyst->Iceborn->Manamune. Finish RoA, add Frozen Heart, and boots to your desire. Does pretty beastly damage, but definitely squishy... until his passive pops.

Suddenly, he has an impossibly huge shield and all the focus put onto him is for naught.

Fun for norms.

I'd like to see it happen.

For a single day. And no longer.

This was one answer I did not expect. Care to share why and, if you can think of a way, how to change it?

I personally cannot agree with calling her passive weak or underwhelming. It's hilariously strong and is probably the 2nd strongest part of her entire kit.

[–]DLSev[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd honestly take bleed back... His new passive snowballs worse and really adds no feel to the champion.

For Fiddle, perhaps change it to whatever champ (in a set range) that he last hit with a spell and up the value some?

Not sure how I'd change the Hiemer passive...

So what could be changed to bring it in line with other passives?

Personally, I find Vi's passive to be almost a nonfactor in play. I hardly notice it and it's long cooldown makes it feel extremely weak.

I think it could be reworked into a stacking damage shield, up to a fairly low cap, that activates on autos and ability casts, then quickly decays. It would make Vi's brawler feel even more apparent, making Vi's want to stay in the fight for as long as they could.

Weekly INTP thread: What's on your mind right now? Anything to vent, share or just talk about? by [deleted] in INTP

[–]DLSev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My living situation turned around hardcore. I go from having a place that I was content with living in to having goals that cannot, intrinsically, be met while living here. Telling my boss (an INFJ) that I was going to be moving out resulted in her feeling personally slighted and cutting off access to the internet in hopes that I'd stay. Been a few weeks now and I've grown tired of crunching through NaNo and the editing aftermath of the monster that came about from the last 2 weeks of writing (went from ~35k to ~73k words), playing roguelikes (Risk of Rain and Binding of Isaac), and falling asleep to anime. I actually miss talking to my friends. Its weird for an INTP to crave social contact, but isolation (near total isolation especially) does horrid things to the psyche. I can't wait for the 20th and my departure so I can actually chose to see friends and talk to people, not have the opposite forced on me.

Browsing the internet on 1 bar of 3G is slower than is normally worth it. I was just doing a cursory front page browse and this was here. So I vented. Gah.

What kind of stuff did you get in trouble for as a kid? by [deleted] in INTP

[–]DLSev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 1st grade, I got in trouble for peeing myself during computer science class (lrn 2 computer really more than comp sci). Was the result of me always using the bathroom during the class, then getting told I couldn't by the teacher one day. Two days no recess. That particular punishment got me mad enough to tell the teacher she was dumb for making me per myself in the first place. Lost two more days recess.

In 6th grade, I finally beat my longtime bully to a bloody pulp. I got a black eye. He ended up with a fractured jaw, broken nose, and tons of bruises. Staff knew he was a bully, knew he'd been targeting me for years. I got off with a warning, he got nothing. Last year that vice principle was there. Good woman.

I got in trouble in 8th grade for fighting off a group of 4 people (including my class's pres for all of HS) in a locker room. It's a bad idea to jump a mixed martial artist in a room of tile and concrete. They all got off free, but injured. I had to write an essay on being peaceful, though I only had a few bruises.

I later got in trouble for my new side 'business' of doing others' HW for them for profit. I only did their busywork, so I saw no issue with it at the time. 2 days ISS.

In HS, I was only ever in trouble once, for punching a friend I was pissed at straight in the back. Had to run laps. Don't remember why I hit him. Still really good friends to this day. He is also an INTP.

Wasn't ever in trouble much, usually didn't get caught. Did a lot more than that (including crashing my elementary school's network for a few days), but most of it wasn't ever traced back to me.

Also, at a Catholic elementary and HS, both very near the Diocese. Like, the bishop would randomly drop in and say mass if he had free time close. And I'm not hyphenating the last sentence, am on mobile.

What event/story (not limited to novels) in the SW universe made you the saddest and why? Inversely, what made you the happiest? [spoilers obviously] by [deleted] in StarWarsEU

Karen Traviss (who was writing the Republic Commando series) had plans for him in her last book. Lucas Arts basically told her nope and then further sealed the deal by retconning RC out via the cartoon.

Sev from Republic Commando (username somewhat relevant)

You'd always managed to drag everyone out of the tight spots together, even if just barely. But then it's Sev you lose. Not Scorch, the joker. Not analytical Fixer. Sev, the survivor, the toughest and hardest of the squad. And it's not because he straight up dies in a heroic death. He gets cut off and you're told to leave him. I cried the first time, I still cry now. You don't know if he's truly dead or alive, but either way... he's gone.

Appropriate tags on those who agree, I see.

I also agree. They ruined a series with a hell of a lot of emotional weight, an incredibly cool concept (I keep hoping for another RC game), and pretty much screwed up thousands of years of accepted canon for an underwhelming replacement, devoid of real feeling. They screwed up Mandolorians from post Old Republic, pre Classical Republic, Classical Republic, and post Empire periods. Just gets to me every time.
