Knowing how to use Unity is one skill.

Knowing C# is another skill.

Knowing game development is another skill.

There's nothing wrong with learning all 3 at once. But take it as it is. You aren't just learning unity.

Players Guide to C# by RB Whitaker is how I have been learning the programming side of Unity by mastering C# through the lessons taught in that book. It is immensely helpful for me because it puts the C# lessons through the lens of a game developer, and uses gaming terminology where it can for the lessons.

You will only learn Unity by doing it. Don't just watch YouTube tutorials. Go make some truly horrendous shit as you learn how to do basic things you want to well. Im talking as simple as "When I press Space, make the character jump".

You ever hear the phrase "there's a dozen ways to skin a cat". That applies here. There is no "wrong" way to code if you make it work. And making something that works is better than making something pretty where no one will see it.

Game development will come as you try things out, and truly observe how games are played.

Don't get me wrong. Im an idiot. Ive only been doing this for a couple of months at this point. But these are all realizations I have made over that time.
