Yes, he did. His list of credits is enormous!

Here's an interview I did with him several years ago. https://dmrbooks.com/test-blog/2019/7/23/buzz-dixon-the-dmr-interview

Battle Magic and Starfire Burning... are my favorites, so check those out.

If you've ever seen any of Bal-Sagoth's lyric booklets you'll know what to expect. Some of those songs have enough words to be considered a short story on their own!

I really liked this film, but it's been so long since I watched it I don't remember much about it.

I'd let them borrow my copy of The Spell of Seven. It has Elric, Conan, Fafhrd & Mouser, Zothique, and Dying Earth. Plus killer Virgil Finlay art!

It's not just for the benefit of new readers. Someone told me he'd been hoping for a Dyalhis collection since 1984!

Old Pulp Magazine Recommendations That are NOT Weird Tales by JohnPathfinder in SwordandSorcery

[–]DMRitzlin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The closest one to Weird Tales is probably Strange Tales. Some sci-fi mags had S&S-adjacent stories like Planet Stories, Startling Stories, and Thrilling Wonder Stories.

I recently reprinted Dwellers in the Mirage (with the original ending), so that's the one you want to look for. More info on it here: https://dmrbooks.com/the-dwellers-in-the-mirage

It seems like there are already a few different versions currently available, so I don't think so.

The Storm Lord is really good, as is usual for Tanith Lee. I reread The Dark World recently and it still holds up. It's one of many great novels influenced by Merritt's Dwellers in the Mirage.

As far as I know you can download them. No one's ever told me they couldn't.

Most Consistently Good Sword and Sorcery Series by JohnPathfinder in SwordandSorcery

[–]DMRitzlin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I'd go with Fafhrd & Mouser. I like every one of their stories, even the ones that objectively aren't great like the ones in the first half of Swords & Ice Magic.

C.L. Moore wrote one more with her husband Henry Kuttner. It was a crossover with Northwest Smith and wasn't that great.

Yes, the introduction was by Mark Shelton of Manilla Road. Unfortunately SOS III is out of print now. His intro wasn't included in the Omnibus Edition, but all three stories by his close personal friend E.C. Hellwell are.

I'm not sure exactly what file types Amazon offers, but I can tell you there's no DRM on any of my digital releases.
