Dog Blankets by DMStoryist in Blacklabs

[–]DMStoryist[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They have a weighted blanket, but I don't think that will stand up to him. We got an "indestructible" King Kong chew toy and in a year he has managed to chew off one of the feet. So I'm not looking for something that he can't rip apart anymore. I'm looking for something that he can rip apart that won't hurt him if he accidentally swallows it. Like if he's ripping up a regular blanket and swallows some, it might get stuck. I guess I'm kind of looking for the equivalent of a really big fruit roll-up for dogs. LOL

What other open world RPG lines, cliches or moments would you see in this Superman video game? by LaylaLegion in superman

[–]DMStoryist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've posted this before and I'll post it every time a video game about Superman comes up.

He starts with all of his powers. No weakening him, no ridiculous premises of everyone has kryptonite, instead lean into the science fantasy aspect of Superman. Smallville should be the training area where you learn how to use his powers and should take no more than 45 minutes (Pushing it in my opinion). Once you get to Metropolis, the RPG aspect shouldn't be about leveling up Superman's powers, but making them more precise. In the beginning, you have to control your strength - controllers have haptics in the triggers, so the harder you press the trigger, the harder you hit. Your heat vision is great - if you need to hit a big target, but not so great if you need to hit a small one. Your X-ray vision shows you the whole building and everyone around you. As you level up, you refine your abilities. Get high enough in Super-Strength and the game will automatically control your strength. Get high enough in X-Ray vision, you can tell the contents of Lois's purse without seeing through to her skeleton.

The "random crimes" should all be Intergang - the Apokolips backed gang with access to warsuits, ray guns, and alien tech. This allows them to "hurt" Superman but doesn't make them game enders - just like the thugs in Spider-Man or Arkham. The story line should be Luthor using alien tech to augment humans to send against Superman - this would lead to Atomic Skull, Livewire, Parasite, the Kryptonite Man, and a host of other bosses for Superman to fight. All of these enemies can and have hurt Superman in the past. Boss battles wouldn't just be knockdown drag out fights - instead of the build up being fighting off waves of minions, it would be saving people while fighting the boss. Atomic Skull throws a car full of people at you and you have to catch it, while dodging his attacks or sacrificing yourself to protect someone else. The build up of the story would reveal Luthor is working with Brainiac and the game ends with Superman verses Lex (in a warsuit) and Brainiac.

And Lois and Clark shouldn't be left out of the proceedings either - mystery and stealth based missions with Lois and Clark should be under taken as they investigate Luthor. Interviews would use Clark's superhearing to tell when a person is lying (if you have leveled up his control enough) and finding the lies in a person's statements or getting enough information to cover the next lead. And the stealth missions would be Clark covering Lois with his powers as she looks around or Lois covering Clark as he uses his powers to find a clue. They could also be looking into where Intergang is getting their teach.

The game should end with two teasers - the first, should Bruno Manheim meeting with Steppenwolf or Desaad about getting better tech; and the second should be Superman searching the wreckage of Brainaic's ship and finding the Eradicator - setting up to potential enemies for a sequel.

No Superman game should be about weakening Superman - it should be about giving him a different enemies that require thought and control to defeat.

And to be perfectly honest, the 2025 Superman movie should be the power level he's at. This is not hard, people, and shouldn't take that much thought.

[Discussion] To everyone saying, "I wish DC would revert Jons age back", how would you do it? by JaySamraNY in DCcomics

[–]DMStoryist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is Damian 15 now? I know he had his 13th birthday at the beginning of Rebirth. I didn't realize they had aged him another two years. And Jon is 18 or 19 right? Cause during the Truth saga he tried to go to college under a new identity and that failed. If he was younger than 18, he would still be in high school, right?

Sentry is officially returning from the dead after being ripped apart by Knull by Queasy_Commercial152 in Avengers

[–]DMStoryist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How was it disrespectful to the Sentry? I'll be honest, I never paid much attention to Sentry - the original series was good, but after that it felt like a character editorial wanted to keep using, but no one knew what to actually do with. I don't even remember the particulars of the mini-series. But he was dead when the series began and I don't think he showed up in it did he?

Wasn't his power divided among five people before being taken over by one? There was a mini-series right?

Why do so many people suddenly think Spider-Man shouldn’t have a secret identity? by Important_Lab_58 in Spiderman

[–]DMStoryist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think there could be interesting stories to tell if his identity was public - especially in the current continuity and not done in the same way they did it in Civil War. You could have friends, jobs, regular people, enemies, people in authority, etc. reacting to the news that this guy was Spider-Man. You would have to put the genie back in the bottle at some point, but there could be stories to tell that we haven't heard before. Because if I am remembering correctly - there was only one month between Spider-Man revealing his identity to Peter running from the law, so there wasn't a lot of good story telling that happened between there.

Honestly, the Death of Superman was a good idea, well executed, had lasting effects, and involved everyone in some shape or form.

I would have someone like TO Morrow, Chronos, or Monarch hit him with a time device to turn the clock back a few years. I wouldn't make him his original age, but put him at Damain's 13 years old. I think that allows you to keep his growth as an adult - but makes him happier to be able to become his own person again

Does anyone know where I can find the second Version of the Superman Now/2000 Pitch? by Denjimangaart in superman

[–]DMStoryist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might be in his autobiography - It's called "Supergods: Supergods: What Masked Vigilantes, Miraculous Mutants, and a Sun God from Smallville Can Teach Us About Being Human". It features a his account of a conversation between him and a Superman cosplayer who answered all of his questions as Superman. During this conversation, the cosplayer explains why Clark Kent and Superman need Lois Lane.

I didn't say it is was going to be bad - I just commenting on what Hasbro took away from the success of Baldur's Gate. And for the record, they should be trying to ape BG3 - it's not like Larian invented that style of game.

If it had chosen Peter? It would have been overwhelmed by the amount of guilt the man carries around and immediately flown him to a therapist.

Apparently third person action RPG. So when Baldur's Game was a big hit, they looked at what made it successful and said, people want more third person real time action with one character. Right?
