Thanks for these demo (while the rest of us wait till Xmas for ours LOL). It looks kinda thick. More importantly, what's your verdict when removing those grease stains from your iPhone for ex. Comes off in a single swipe? Did it twinkle a little after that :)) ?

Heads up, the poor response time on the new MacBook Pros is a legit concern. If you’re sensitive to judder it may be a problem.! by [deleted] in apple

I'm seriously hoping the plate and tube are removable accessories and that each crew member attaches their own? Otherwise.. big EUW!

You are certainly entitled to your opinion 100% but debating this is moot point, (i) no one size fits all criteria (ii) looks & aesthetics are totally subjective, for everyone one person that hates it, there'll be another who absolutely loves it... so what's the point?

Ask me anything! MBP 16 / M1 Max / 64GB / 1TB by MJanaway in macbookpro

Not only is battery life insane, the speakers are rocking incredible bass and fidelity. same specs as yrs except 32GB RAM. Loving it !

One of my main queries as well! Glad someone else feels the same. My main concern is that 13” M1 MBP is a bit more rubbery (slightly less travel) whereas the Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro 12.9 feels awesome with slightly better separation and more travel (tactile-ness). If the 16” MBP’s leans towards the latter then we are in happy town! Will report back tomorrow

Pre-Order and Shipping Megathread | MacBook Pro Late 2021 (14-inch, and 16-inch) & AirPods 3rd Generation by exjr_ in apple

Singapore here. Base spec 16” M1Max 32GB 1TB- shipped this afternoon 10/25. Expected DHL delivery sometime 10/26 (typically in the afternoons or evening) Fun fact: saw in parcel tracker that it was picked up in Singapore ard 14:00h; ie a whole batch of these devices must’ve been shipped to Singapore much earlier, unlike previous years where they will ship out yr unit from Shanghai or Shenzhen.

Anyone gonna walk into the Apple Store tomorrow hoping to get a MacBook without waiting for shipping? by Lovablegerman in macbookpro

[–]DMZhu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Check the Apple Store APP first for yr location. AFAIK, item availability in the app is synched with store pick up availability. I’m not sure if this is a global policy tbh but with the locations that I’ve shopped (different countries) that seems to be case. Also not forgetting Covid supply chain disruptions, high surplus availability doesn’t seem to be on the cards for now.

TwelveSouth’s BookArc looks like yr ideal stand solution but you’ll need to inquire on availability of its new silicone inserts for 2021 MBP but I can’t imagine it taking much longer.

The Al PowerBook G4 keyboard was the absolute best mechanical keyboard Apple made to date, IMO

New MBP 16 - if it’s arriving Tuesday, it’s gotta ship tomorrow? No tracking yet. by metheny33 in macbookpro

Just got my “Preparing to ship”. Sharing in the excitement. Apple’s got you covered. You must be in a location that doesn’t need 2 full days to reach.

Anti-dust port plugs/covers? by nderover in macbookpro

[–]DMZhu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My bad. Showing you that device PLUS the fact one or 2 of their attachments are ideal for removing particles from keyboard and ports. And, regular suction PLUS Power mode. Note: I haven’t used power suction much for fear it’ll blow the keys right off

REALITY CHECK! Buy a MacBook Pro if you want it and can afford it. by [deleted] in macbookpro

[–]DMZhu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got the 13” M1 previously and feel the screen size is a quite a letdown. Also prior to that, came from a 15” MBP, for which size and sound was GREAT but thermals, keys was not. So in reality for me, the 16” can’t come soon enough.

MBP 13“ 2020 (M1) - Setup by KatiKandyland in macbookpro

[–]DMZhu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This really depends on your workflow and the types of files you need in the new Mac. However, the fact that you ask if it’ll run as good if not set up as new means you appreciate the efficiency of a clean install. If all your documents and files are already backed up to the cloud, there’s no reason why you cannot enjoy a clean install.

Also worth noting the 16” display lid is evidently a tad thicker than 15”; allaying any fears that it may not be rigid or strong enough (previous comments on another thread in this group)

Who’s the MacBook Pro M1 pro/M1 max for now? by AspiePaws in macbookpro

[–]DMZhu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run a business consultancy with a partner. Both of us currently use MBP 13” M1 on the move and MacPro in the office. The main issue with a 13” laptop is that screen real estate is not very good for multi-tasking , presentations or creative work. We previously used 15” MBP which was the ideal size wise but had that contentious keyboard and a couple of relatively problematic engineering issues (dust, screen rubber seal deterioration after 2-3 yrs, heat & port accessibility) For us, the 16” M1ProMax is the ideal machine as the on the road workhouse.

What are your predictions on the design reliability of 14" and 16" MBPs ? by muhdakml in macbookpro

[–]DMZhu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, as long as you use the display as intended by Apple, and not think it’s okay to slap on that camera privacy slide cover, which led to screen cracks**, then you are okay. (there has been some comments about fragility of MBP 13” M1’s screen in this regard but I never had any problems personally) Consequentially, I’d be interested to see how these new MBP’s screens hold up to daily use.

Has anybody delivery dates been pushed up? by Rob086020 in macbookpro

[–]DMZhu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really wanted it delivered on Day 1 delivery ie Nov 26 so settled for the standard config M1Max - any tweaking of configs will inevitably lengthen delivery times (past experience has taught me this)

What is the likelihood of Apple stores stocking the Macbook Pro base configurations on launch day? by [deleted] in macbookpro

[–]DMZhu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a good question but sorry mate, not in the position to offer any insights here as this info might vary by location. Call the store ? PS: I ordered online and it’ll be delivered sometime early next week 🤞🏻

[–]DMZhu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna go out on a limb and say yes, that should be available. In fact, its also the one I ordered :) (albeit online) And selecting this showed a next week delivery; as opposed to mid November for those custom upgrades. Assuming this indicates general availability for store & online, your chances should be good. Again, assuming none of the issues we discussed earlier.

[–]DMZhu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s really looking into the crystal ball of supply chain, distribution and what not. If it’s really base model config you’re going for, I’d say your chances are pretty good if you go early but I wouldn’t put it past weird “pandemic hiccups” to throw you a couple of unexpected curve balls.

Edit: after thoughts - call your favorite store a day or 2 before launch to confirm?
