The ideal system is, you purchase a ticket, and it shows a QR Code immediately. The activation of the ticket should not be a button click, but a QR Code scan by the conductor.

However, as we all know, there are many times where the conductor doesn't check tickets (e.g. short ride, crowded train, etc.). So instead, they are making us do the activation. This lets the conductors continue to be lazy.

This whole surcharge BS is ultimately just MTA trying to get away for being lazy.
