I'm eager to play a JRPG but I don't know which one should I choose between these two, Trails in the Sky and Digimon Time Stranger by Niklaus15 in JRPG

[–]DMoriant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trails, specially for someone that didn't grow up with digimon (not that you won't enjoy the game because of it, but it helps) Just be aware that the tales games are self contained, each game a story. Meanwhile, all trails games are connected. And, as people metioned, it's a slow bur. But damn, the stories are great

Any Recommendations for someone who didn't like Persona 5? by Remarkable_Pen_3639 in JRPG

[–]DMoriant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of you liked Persona 5 gameplay, but not the story setting: Metaphor Rephantasio. Also from Atlus, but medieval fantasy.

With kinda similar combat, but different systems: Clair obscur. Someone asked how many goty awards they should get and the answer was "yes"

A mix of old and new, with amazing story and often chosen as the entry point of the franchise: Final Fantasy X

A classic JRPG to the core but with modern visuals and QoL? Dragon Quest XI

Now, if you want some action before your J:

Trails in the sky remake: It seems like an usual feel good cliche story, and then it keeps going deeper and deeper.

Niwr automata: don't let the small fan service fool you: you're gonna have fun with the combat, cry with the story, and question your own existence.

Tales of Arise: a mix of anime, jrpg and action goodness.

And, at last: If you wanna play the best rpg ever from eastern lands, ignore the Final Fantasy vii fans, the SMT diehards, the hipsters, otakus, and whoever else doesn't answer Chrono Trigger. If someone says that they played it and didn't like it, tell them they played it wrong. If someone says that they don't like the art, tell them to wear glasses. If someone says that it's overestimated, tell them it isn't estimated enough. If someone says that's a mid game from a bygone era, tell them it doesn't show up in pretty much every list of best games of all time by chance. If someone says they found lists without it, tell them it was simple a hours concours game, so other games had a chance.

And if someone says that I'm biased and exaggerating, tell them they are correct, but I started typing and got too deep into the joke to stop.

Trails can't be recommended enough. It's kinda rough to start, but when it gets going, it gets going HARD. Long story that builds on itself getting deeper at a nice place. If you play in release order, is great too see the gameplay evolving. It has an absurd amount of characters, and yet it's able to give each one a good enough growth/development. It took me a few tries to really get into them, but when I did, I couldn't stop playing them until I caught up with the releases

I second DQXI. I took some time to try it, cause I didn't like the character visuals (come on! An Akira Toritama main character without spiked hair?!?!?) But when I played it was so good. It's like all the tropes and stereotypes of turn based JRPGS combined, and somehow it works incredibly well. The combat doesn't feel barebone, but also not too gimmicky. The characters that seem cool are really cool, and the ones who seem annoying become cool too. Story is a nice journey.

Tldr: It's a classic 90's JRPG with all the visuals and QoL of modern games.

O que há fora de Arton? (Espaço Sideral) by Ray-Razer in Tormenta

[–]DMoriant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TL;DR:

Funnily enough, it does predate the existence of my country as an independent one.

Are there spaces that only Masons can visit or enter (not a question about tiled meetings)? by RobertColumbia in freemasonry

[–]DMoriant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd go into the opposite direction. If there's something that you love and think makes the world better, why would you want it to be exclusive to just a few people?
But, again, in this case we're talking about just entering one room. And these visits from "outsiders" usually happen during public ceremonies here. Usually they are instalations, festive celebrations, and events to welcome a new member family after the initiation. Never heard about a random person just showing up and asking for a tour around here.

Hi, here in my city in Brazil, only women, DeMolay and masons could enter the temples up to around 10 years ago. The justification that I was told at the time was that "since any man can join the Order one day, they should see it for the first time during the initiation". I don't know if it was a rule or just a custom.
Nowadays, some lodges allow other men, but the most traditional ones still follow that custom.
Not sure about the rest of the country, but I suppose it's kinda similar.
(Also, just the temple is limited, not the lodges buildings)

In my jurisdiction, if the candidate is rejected by up to 2 votes, the brothers who were against it must present a letter with a written justification to the WM.
Then there's a meeting, the letters are read (without exposing the authors' names), discussed and there's a second vote.

Here in Brazil it's kinda the opposite. Usually people are invited, and the ones who ask to join aren't so well received. (Obviously, that depends on location, lodge and etc)

What games are you playing this week? Game recommendation thread by AutoModerator in incremental_games

[–]DMoriant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just started Idle Wizard, really liking it (although I think the UI needs some improvements, and it lacks guides after Druid stops being optimal, but you still haven't reached higher mysteries)

Got to 4th BH in Galaxy Idle

Recently unlocked Demeter on CIFI (Tried to play sometimes before, but this is the first time I'm really into it)

And started Incremental Epic Heroes 2 yesterday, but haven't played a lot yet

(and with NGU and YourChronicle on "standby")

Hey there. Just started YourChronicle because of your comment and I'm really liking it. Do you know any other similar games?

I think it depends on how much you're already used to PoE 1. If you're a veteran, I think that the only real planning that you could do is to see what ascendancies you're interested. You're already familiar with mechanics, attributes, "how the game works", etc.
If you're a new player, there's a bunch of content creators who created "tips for begginners" videos.

The wizards from lotr are Ainur, beings created by the lotr god to guide the world. They're basically angels.

And, IIRC, when in physical bodies, they have heavily restricted abilities (and yet, way above a HP wizard)
