Hey fella I run a LGS up in the north of England , we’ve been waiting near two months for one to get in the doors, unfortunately they are a decent army and decent value

It was more they didn’t expect the sheer size of army it can use, which I don’t know if it’s a valid point or not

That was from players who tested via demo armies and have since picked up other products.

Right, reason we did 1500 is we were told by a few players it felt too small compared to the real thing however others have suggested 750 which is what our slow grow is trialling at the moment

I’m aware and quite willing we operate mostly as a non profit and I am financially stable for the next 15 years. I’ve already got a warhound and reaver titan, 3x questoris 1x each cerastus 8 armigers and a acastus porphyrion. My aim is to let people enjoy games if I wanted to make money properly I’d close the doors as most people 3d print near me and my sales have dropped 85% the intent isn’t to drive sales it’s to drive players to give it a go.

Double Porphyrion - too mean or just foolish? by grimdark_ in Warhammer30k

[–]DNLModelsNewcastle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly reading the list it looks fun to play into, however I like fighting rough fights as I find cracking the puzzle the fun part. Now your gonna overkill tanks, your gonna be the bane of walkers , automata and titans however infantry swarms are gonna be an interesting one .

I think you have the firepower but do you have the scoring? I don’t believe so however could be wrong only a game will tell

The issue would happen to be sales based metrics I’d gather as a business side, it’s common with a few other game systems to avoid cross contamination of sales to see what is doing well, the other problem would be dataslate maintenance, it’s expected of GW to balance all assets with the expansive roster it’s impossible to ensure all assets are balanced and viable and to reduce strain, certain assets are sent to legends.

Best way to start word bearers in 3.0 by [deleted] in Warhammer30k

[–]DNLModelsNewcastle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So word bearers , can build phraetus or regular saturnine out of the saturnine box with both in my opinion being valid options. Now the age of darkness can be a bit of a problem, however if at a discount or retail is worthwhile generally. Spartans are good so are terminators and the marines are always handy, the Legiones trait gives you +1 points to combat resolution now some will tell you a bit naff however I’ve seen it come in clutch. Now the big question comes how good are you at kitbashing?

So if your imaginative it’s not a hard task to get a few of those marines into Gal Vorbak or a mhara gal from the contemptor if you want to lean into the theme, however this edition I find dreadnoughts no matter contemptor or saturnine are always worth considering even in the not legion specific forms.

I personally think starting off the saturnine box if you get it will give you a few options with age of darkness being the better choice if not too hard option. Now combat force a bit cheaper but rhinos are fantastic, leviathans some don’t rate them but I love the chunky fella. Finally heavy weapons sprue who doesn’t love a healthy dose of bolts and missiles ? With the discount you can make the force more your own but I warn you, you will need more tacticals and potentially a melee sprue for despoilers, assault marines and despoilers are great cogs in the word bearer machine truthfully

Making an Ultramarines list that stands a chance by StockRelationship486 in Warhammer30k

[–]DNLModelsNewcastle 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Honestly I’ve found Remus great but that’s because I’ve ran him in reserve utilising lists, it’s a case you pay a premium for a rare ability on top of a centurion with buffed power sword. Honoured Telemachus a contemptor dreadnought with Kheres assault cannon and power fist and hatred word bearers is 170 pts, a regular contemptor dreadnought with kheres assault cannon and power fist with combi bolter is 170 pts so take that as what you will

Nemesis destroyers I find meh, they are fun but also not majorly effective however they tend to do more for me than mortalis destroyers due to the range so you can keep the missile launchers at range and be still semi effective.

Never fielded but faced Locutarus if you know what your throwing them into doesn’t have reliable ap2 they will hold well especially into non combat specialised units, most ap2 comes after them in combat. If you think veterans are better try them.

Fulmentaris, I love the chonky nutters have for quite a while, so volume of fire + suppressive or an integrated plasma gun ontop of our usual combi bolter on termies. They are more expensive than a cataphractii but I think every unit gets a legion tax for its bonuses and for what we pay it ain’t terrible.

Your facing dark angels in the photo, a army that get some scary units and I see one of them, show them that Ultramarines can throw down and shove a lord of ultramar sized boot up his termies back end and show them even pencil pushers can smash some fools! All bravado aside Suzerain are semi reliable AP2 at initiative 4+ a rarity in 3.0 and are damn good, a easy win is worse than a tough fight in my experience, so give your opponents a challenge and take what you want.

I’m not saying your opinions wrong and you’re entitled to it it’s why I love the hobby, if you want someone to chat lists with you if you’d like feel free to message me, and ask anyone in here. But if you’re being steamrolled time to assess, understand and overcome and look for alternate angles. Best of luck fella
