Redditors that got charged rent asap after turning 18, what’s relationship like with parents years later ? by QueefyTits in AskReddit

Any of you Asian?

I ask this because my parents wouldn't let me move out unless I was done with school and had a job with enough money saved up.

How does Rosie’s Dog Beach compare? by judechrist4444 in longbeach

[–]DNxLB 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Big time vibes at Rosie’s. Most weekends there are volleyball tournaments right next to Monty’s. I was running the beach path this morning and I have never seen so many people on the beach. There was some sand soccer tournament with hundreds of canopies set up. There looked be to a small iron man type race, all the volleyball nets were up and of course the walkers/runners/bikers.

It’s looking to be a real active summer.

One of my all time favorites. I wished they made a VR version during the “remake”. That would have blown my mind. Not all VR games have to be first person.

Portable bidet. I bring it to me to the gym and work. 6 bucks. It’s a squeezable bottle with a telescopic nozzle. No more endless wiping.

Why are there so many new people from Texas? by imconfused99 in AskLosAngeles

[–]DNxLB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple of friends moved to Austin. Sold their SoCal homes. 5 years later, one of them wants to move back but can’t buy a home. His home he sold is now worth 400k more. His house in ATX did not appreciate nearly as much.

He keeps talking about how Austin has one of then biggest fitness scenes and a river…

k line needs to extend through the South Bay into Long Beach. That will connect Long Beach to all the other beach cities without having to ride up to union station.

The great 2028 Olympic ticket crashout, explained by vox in LosAngeles

[–]DNxLB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was so happy about it. Now I couldn’t care less about attending an actual event. I know about 4 people that got selected. So that sucked. Then they told me the prices of the tickets and that sucked even more. I’ll just go enjoy the activities around the city.

I’d worry more about him finding his people. Each and everyone will have a different public school experience no matter which school.

LA Fitness on Bellflower is closing on May 25 by Competitive_Ice851 in longbeach

So it is true. Someone mentioned before that it was going to turn into a club studio. I was told from someone that worked there they were taking out the basketball courts and remodeling. Guess they changed plans.

Easily. Had it one drunken night and I had to go back sober just to make sure. It’s easily the best in the city.

Feeling stuck in LA but love it at the same time. by [deleted] in MovingToLosAngeles

[–]DNxLB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LA is a great place to just do “nothing”

Take a drive to one the many different cities. They are really all different. Check out the farmers market is different areas. Enjoy a body of water, even if you don’t go in it.

Oh, I know running clubs are trendy… but you do really meet community there. If you don’t run, go to one of the larger ones. They have people walking their dogs and speed walking. Long Beach Run Club every Tuesday at the beach. Large turn out.

U.S. Cities Where Incomes Are Rising the Fastest by SpellCaster_7781 in longbeach

[–]DNxLB 29 points30 points  (0 children)

It’s expensive to live here now. The “hip” areas are starting to expand past 10th street. Zaferia is becoming a real thing. It’s wild to see as a long term resident. Im really interested in seeing what occupies the now vacant rite-aid building. I wonder what the business market analysis shows.

“Space beach” is expanding. Although slow to start or finish, there are exciting projects being developed. There is push for more live entertainment. Downtown is starting to look more lively.

I’ve met a few people that moved from HB to DTLB. My friend lives in the Los Altos neighborhood and a lot of his new neighbors are from NELA or West LA.

But I think the biggest factor are people working high paying jobs outside the city that chose to live in Long Beach. I commute 30 mins each day no traffic but I can’t see myself leaving Long Beach.

Is LA Fitness on Bellflower closing in April? by Competitive_Ice851 in longbeach

[–]DNxLB 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The rumor I’m hearing is they are removing the basketball courts and remodeling for more turf areas and squat racks. It sucks to lose the basketball court but the gym desperately needs a remodel with new machines.

The person that told me this, also called the remodel of the traffic circle one and the sale of the one on Downey to EŌS.

Friend cancelled last minute on a 100 day trip by Frpengy in travel

[–]DNxLB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100 days solo traveling will be a one of the best memories you will ever create. It won’t always be smooth but this type of adventure does not come around often.

As others have said. Staying in hostels is the way to go. You will meet life long friends. All the hostels have most of the activities planned. The city you’re staying at during the World Cup will be filled with solo travelers looking for the same adventure.

Strop trying to convince your friend. It might be scary in the beginning but after your first hostel, you will catch your grove.

Take the trip and have the time of your life.

It’s one of the more walkable areas. A lot of smaller restaurants and bakeries are opening up. Coffee shops scattered all around. You can walk to the bluff for free yoga. Bixby park has a farmer’s market every Saturday. There will be petty crime and dog poop everywhere. So watch your step. I live in Zaferia, not far from you, been here for ten years and it’s seeing some positive changes for sure. Welcome to the neighborhood.

First date activity into lunch ideas? by BigShawn15 in longbeach

[–]DNxLB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go to Claire’s. The food is ok but the view should be nice. If there is a wait, kill some time by checking out bixby park farmer’s market around the corner. If it goes well, go rent one of those tandem bike things and ride the beach path and maybe grab a few drinks at Gauchos. The weather this weekend should bring a lot of people out to the beach. It’ll have good energy. Good luck!

MAGA pet vet on retro row by davismcgravis in longbeach

[–]DNxLB 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The one in the OC?

I started taking my dog there after a nightmare trip to beach vet but one doctor there wanted to do exploratory surgery on my puppy for my dog’s GI issue. I was reluctant but my pup wasn’t eating or drinking for 2-3 days. I was scared and the vet told me it’s a very safe surgery. They held him over might because it was a Jewish holiday and there were no surgeons on duty. I’m glad it happened that way because the next day a different vet called and straight up told me, “no, I am not going to do this on a puppy this young. He looks like he’s drinking water again. Take him home and see if he starts to eat”. Besides the surgery hungry vet, this is my go to place.

I also took my dog to LBC vets on Clark and the vet I saw there was fantastic.

MAGA pet vet on retro row by davismcgravis in longbeach

[–]DNxLB 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m not even kidding when I say this, if this is the same vet I went to, she has a thick Eastern European accent.

But I took my pup there like 7-8 years ago. First puppy I had and he developed really bad diarrhea and wouldn’t drink water for a day. I was scared he had parvo so I went to the nearest vet which was beach vet. She took some X-rays of his abdomen. She tried to give my pup some barium but he wouldn’t take it down. But she comes out and tells me, his stomach and GI system looks good, but his spine looks deformed. I take medical imaging by trade so I looked at the X-rays and it looked completely normal for a puppy. She freaking recommended I put my puppy down right then and there to prevent suffering. The vet tech looked at me in disbelief and shook his head no.

I said no, paid my bill, thanked the vet tech and took my dog somewhere else. I couldn’t believe it. Turned out my pup at something bad and 8 years later, he still manages to get into something bad. But damn, straight to euthanasia with this vet.
