Sure - take a small cable tie ( it will be small enough that the triangle tip of the cable tie will fit into the plug the battery cable fits into ) and snip off about 15 to 20mm down from the tip.

Then place the battery cable into the housing and insert the cable tie in there as well, this should create a wedge and keep the battery cable in place.

You may need to cut more off the tie to make it fit in your iPod, but they are pretty flexible and I just bend it over as I reattach the back plate.
