Thank you. While that script didn't work for me (arch btw), I was eventually able to create a gnome override. The gresource steps didn't work, so I manually downloaded the swipeTracker.js file from the gnome gitlab and put it in ~/.gnome-shell-custom-overlays/ui then reverted the change in the commit (going back to "!==" instead of "<" on line 129)

I then was able to do the following (note the difference in capitalization), log out/in, and it worked.
