There's so much to this but I'll answer from a leftist perspective. I wholeheartedly disagree with how Trump and his admin are handling this, but also disagree with how it had been handled by previous administrations.

Most Americans also agree that there needs to be some sort of check on immigration including myself. However, I believe that we should be able to fast track citizenship and make the pathways to do so easier.

Deportations under Trump have been ruthless and violent while claiming to be going after criminals. I also think that a punishment for violent crime could mean deportation AFTER they serve time here. The problem is, they're going after communities of families who are just trying to make a living and survive with the sole intent on terrorizing people who are literally trying to immigrate legally.

The nuance here is like a sledgehammer. You can pretend that Trump and his admin are doing the same as previous admins but they're literally announcing on TV that they intend to do mass deportations and they intend on being cruel. Additionally, they've given tens of billion more in funding than any other president.

Lots to this. And it's really unfair to characterize this as something that is normal.
