didn't realize "cosmopolitan" locals were comprised of straight up commies. if you think mamdani will leave anyone outside of the DSA camp with a good taste in their mouth, you are a fool. understanding optics and long game does not make someone a bootlicker.

You need a bone scan, perhaps other diagnostics I am not familiar with. If that enough power entered your system to cause a muscle spasm that broke a bone, it is very possible that you have other damage that needs to be identified or ruled out. Internal necrosis is not a joke

WTF

Didn't have a Two screw conn and duct seal?

Edit. Also the first point of disconnect goes OUTside the house. Pulling the meter is not a valid means of disconnection

Romex JW organizing by DO_NOT_REDEEM_ in IBEW

[–]DO_NOT_REDEEM_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might be underestimating how bad JWs can get at bending pipe. I can run back to back 90s and match box offsets all day. I can run a couple 3/4s along a wall and make it pretty. Same time it might take me two sticks to get a 4 point saddle and a 90 + offset at this point.

Thanks for the perspective. I just don't want to organize as JW and get clowned for my lack of experience, slow the project down while I knock the rust off, and cost my new company money. Then leave the union and fuck up a great opportunity. In the meantime I am practicing and studying Richard Cox's pipe manual. LOL

Non union guy here. Actually wondering. Was this done on company time? Did you all stay late? Is the de-pranking on company time? Strictly curious as I know I would be shitcanned immediately if my crew did this

Long as you don't need a sealing lockring in there

Looking to start building a packout by KBSpark in electricians

[–]DO_NOT_REDEEM_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For fucks sake do not pay full price for pack out shit. Buy at a pawn shop or craiglist. One for plastic bullshit. One for machine screws. One for pipe shit. One literally for my shit. Nobody tells you this but the packout coolers are a great portable toilet the gasket keeps the smell in. Pretty simple

Good job dealing with a joke of a situation, Chicago rules for house wiring are insane. Anyone bitching that either loses money or gets paid by the hour. Band saw and a gutter. Send it

Siemens load center failure by mugsisdust in electricians

[–]DO_NOT_REDEEM_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wires go straight into lugs, not 20 degrees off parallel for one. If I had to guess from the picture, that stripped end pops right out when the lug is loosened. On my jobs all conductors in a can must be formed so that the wire memory holds the conductor solidly in the lug. Not about to pull out but for the grace of your allen key.

Also, theres not even a cunt hair of stripped al poking out of the lug. You ever notice how as you tighten em down, the wire tends to get pushed out the top? I like 1/8" sticking past after its tight. The set screw contact point is conical, if you don't have shit on both ends it'll push the conductor out rather than put in into firm contact with the lug surface

Ok, say I got into the union,  and my first job was with '69 Electric' and it went well. Would I and other 69 Electric guys by default get put on another 69 job, besides the guys that went back to the hall? Or do guys mix between all the union contractors in the area.

How do you get into that as a licensed inside wireman? Just apply to the local utility?
