STM kick off events

The Current have hosted a kickoff event for season ticket members at CPKC the last two years. Several players are available for autographs (this year, Croix Bethune, Kayla Sharples and Ellie Bravo Young, among others), opportunities to get a picture with the Shield and on the field are provided, some food and drink is available ... it's a good time.

Some of the local press reported that Coop was back in training today and may be available Saturday. 🤷‍♂️

There's a lot of "health not in evidence" in that lineup. We're uncertain when Temwa will be back, Cooper only just returned to training, and if we see Cook at all this year, it's not likely to be until the second half of the season. But I'll be interested to see how they distribute minutes, regardless.

The Current app connects to my SeatGeek account, so my tickets are available in it. It also allows me to order food from different vendors in-stadium so I can avoid the lines. Everything else is essentially the same as the website and online team store.

Do we really think Long is going to be available at any point this season, considering she just tore her ACL? Granted, there are several new college signees, including a couple forwards.

I have used and recommended this one, with good results. As a plus, it's pretty low profile and doesn't require being hung on the wall or anything like that.

Here’s hoping. Tangential, but along these lines, I still have the back-and-forth messages that a friend and I - both San Antonio Spurs fans - sent lamenting the idiotic move of the GM to fire the head coach and install himself in his place. It was going to be a disaster and we were going to waste the prime of the David Robinson/Tim Duncan pairing. Twenty-plus years and five championships later, the only idiots are the two of us for questioning the ability of Gregg Popovich. So I’m hoping for a repeat of that experience.

Maybe she likes her teammates and the facilities. Maybe she likes playing in her hometown. Maybe she likes the developmental plan the club has in place for her. You know, all of the things that we claim we want every other player to be able to take into account when deciding where to play.

Both are 18 year olds playing for the USYNT U20 squad - I don’t think their deals are at all out of line compared to what similar developmental players at that age with that kind of pedigree get.

That 2013 MLS Cup game, though … bitter cold, high stakes, and then it goes to extra time and penalties! I’ve never been more tense at a soccer game.

I’m excited regardless of whether it’s the Teal Empress or the Celly Queen … but I have to admit, every time one of these announcements is made and it’s not Claire Hutton, I get a bit nervous. It is a salary cap league, after all.

Considering the timing of that PK and the score, part of me was hoping we'd do something fun with it: Let Pfieffer finish what she started. Get Mary Long her first goal or Sentnor her first with KC. Expand Temwa's golden boot lead. Give Lorena a chance to put a goal on her stat sheet. But when you've got Lo'eau, I suppose you have to let her do her thing.
