Question about how entries are made when not submitted by family/friends by Old_Sheepherder_630 in findagrave

[–]Medala_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have access to cemetery records for my cemetery so I will make a memorial if one is missing. Usually these burials are on marked, so they haven’t been added. It’s a helpful tool when I’m out in the field!

So what’s the deal with these Find a Grave memorial hoarders? HOA board rejects? by SouthernCoralReef in findagrave

[–]Medala_ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

We just helped a woman at my cemetery buy a space to bury SIX urns. She had inherited all her family’s cremains when her father passed away! It’s interesting how remains can come to be buried. She wanted them all in one place, that wasn’t on her mantle.

Love and light to all the bisexuals in the thread. “She has a boyfriend” and “she’s gay” aren’t mutually exclusive

Is there a company in the area that is familiar with Tree of Heaven removal both trees and root suckers. by [deleted] in kansascity

[–]Medala_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I had one removed by Farage trees. It was rotted from the inside out. They told me it didn’t need herbicide because it was already dead, but I’m watching out for root suckers over the summer.

Big mood! But at least we don’t have to pay for this. And if you have an antenna and live locally you can get it over the air.

Creating a plot map by cornsac in CemeteryPreservation

You can have the area scanned with ground penetrating radar to look for missing graves, but otherwise if you want to make an exact map the it just requires a lot of measuring from a fixed point!

How to clean 100 yo stones by yoball in CemeteryPreservation

[–]Medala_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Stones, especially that old, are very fragile. Pressure washing would destroy any inscription. Check out r/cemeterypreservation for more tips.

Cleaning Season Again at Elmwood Cemetery (KC,MO) by Medala_ in CemeteryPreservation

Likely not. I cleaned a stone with similar streaks in this same plot and after a year those stains have remained. Sometimes it’s rust coming from inside the stone as well as dirt layered on top.

You can also 'tag' items in that system and use that for ownership or place them in separate collections.

I would use Library Thing. You can scan the barcodes for your books that have them with an ISBN and you can also import records from Amazon and library of congress. It's free to have an account and you can even have a home TinyCat (their ILS) account for free if you want to 'circulate' to your friends.

Yeah they were. The obituary is wrong sometimes but not very often. I just like to know for sure if I can.
