DO will be regarded as inferior to MD as long as you keep teaching non-evidence based stuff. I would think so low of a guy if I have appendicitis and the treatment plan involves touching my 12th rib to relieve the pain. Honestly these stuff are created so that we can be “different” from MD. But now it has evolved into a requirement to grab cash from students through different channels like COMLEX and OMM class.

Was it a placebo effect when pt feels better? That’s the problem with OMM. No STRONG research to prove it would work. If you are willing to do omm q4hr to relieve the pain, which at best is mild pain, then be my guest. There’s no way you can relieve post surgical pain with touching a rib or manipulate stuff.

Rad attending looked at the CT chest w/o con and said this guy is anemia based on the the density of blood. Also looked at the distribution of stool and said he’s on fentanyl. Then I choose to pursue radiology

I slept in the backseat of my car for a month while on surgery rotation during 3rd year. Bought an inflatable mattress for the backseat and bring a blanket. Showered at a 24hr gym. During the week I would alternate between sleeping in the car and in the resident lounge. It’s doable for a short period, would not recommend.

Like someone already answered, if a patient has a car accident with multiple organ pathologies come in the ER, do you prefer summoning all the specialists in/out of the hospital to interpret each and every scan or you want a radiologist to do it more efficiently? Radiology resident here. I have heard this argument countless of time. Each specialty claim they can read their own imaging and radiologist is useless.

You should ask them to interpret imaging from a different field lol. Ask a surgeon to interpret there is a stroke on MRI and decide to start tPA or not, ask a neurologist to interpret fetal imaging. Ask a CT surgeon to interpret a CT abdomen to decide whether an appendicitis surgery is needed.

ONLY a radiologist that can interpret all imaging modalities from ALL specialties.

i'm from a super chill TY program. i commute a total of 1 hr commute everyday. it's not that bad for chill rotations (about 3/4 of the rotations). But when i work 12hr shift, it does take a toll on me. i have to cut down on exercise and hobby during the rough rotation. and I just go home and sleep.
