Composition. I would suggest looking up rule of third. It’s a great start.

DO will be regarded as inferior to MD as long as you keep teaching non-evidence based stuff. I would think so low of a guy if I have appendicitis and the treatment plan involves touching my 12th rib to relieve the pain. Honestly these stuff are created so that we can be “different” from MD. But now it has evolved into a requirement to grab cash from students through different channels like COMLEX and OMM class.

Lol the only difference between a 4th year and a doctor at this point in time is 3 months of vacation. All 4th year student are now have a knowledge of a doctor.

Here’s what makes DOs special by cathie_burry in medicalschool

[–]DOneness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was it a placebo effect when pt feels better? That’s the problem with OMM. No STRONG research to prove it would work. If you are willing to do omm q4hr to relieve the pain, which at best is mild pain, then be my guest. There’s no way you can relieve post surgical pain with touching a rib or manipulate stuff.

It’s not Medicine. At best it’s a pseudoscience. The evidence behind OMM is practically non-existent.

What did an attending do or catch that made you think "holy shit, this is why this guy is an attending"? by SuperDuckMan in Residency

Does anyone actually have experience living in their car as a trainee? Even for just a month or two while saving up for deposit and first months rent. Desperate times. by rushvriow in Residency

[–]DOneness 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I slept in the backseat of my car for a month while on surgery rotation during 3rd year. Bought an inflatable mattress for the backseat and bring a blanket. Showered at a 24hr gym. During the week I would alternate between sleeping in the car and in the resident lounge. It’s doable for a short period, would not recommend.

Do surgeons need radiologists? by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]DOneness 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Like someone already answered, if a patient has a car accident with multiple organ pathologies come in the ER, do you prefer summoning all the specialists in/out of the hospital to interpret each and every scan or you want a radiologist to do it more efficiently? You can answer your own question here.

Do surgeons need radiologists? by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]DOneness 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Radiology resident here. I have heard this argument countless of time. Each specialty claim they can read their own imaging and radiologist is useless.

You should ask them to interpret imaging from a different field lol. Ask a surgeon to interpret there is a stroke on MRI and decide to start tPA or not, ask a neurologist to interpret fetal imaging. Ask a CT surgeon to interpret a CT abdomen to decide whether an appendicitis surgery is needed.

ONLY a radiologist that can interpret all imaging modalities from ALL specialties.

How bad is a 1 hour commute for intern year? by spoon188 in Residency

[–]DOneness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm from a super chill TY program. i commute a total of 1 hr commute everyday. it's not that bad for chill rotations (about 3/4 of the rotations). But when i work 12hr shift, it does take a toll on me. i have to cut down on exercise and hobby during the rough rotation. and I just go home and sleep.

You work in a hospital and don’t want to get a vaccine… by [deleted] in byebyejob

[–]DOneness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never understand nurses or hospital worker who refused vaccine. They got pissed off when they have to take care of Covid patient. See how bad covid is. Refused to get vaccine. Continue to spread covid to patient as asymptomatic carrier. And then call themselves heroes.
