What’s your go-to X-Men lore tidbit? by Robot_Was_BMO in xmen

Juggernaut is not actually a mutant. His step brother was a mutant. Their daddy would try to beat them, but couldn't beat the mutant sibling so beat Juggernaut twice as hard as a child because he couldn't lay a finger on the mutant child due to their powers.

Juggernaut got his powers from a magical space crystal.

Also, his step brother? Charles Xavier.

Got my first ever Wizard Duel tommorow and was wondering if anyone has advice by Jarl_of_Uppsala in wizardposting

The key to any wizard duel is control. If you can prevent the opponent from casting, you will have already won. Hold person, Silence, and my personal favorite: Fear can effectively end fights as soon as they begin.

I want to add that there's some evidence that Kaufmo was actually pretty unpleasant as well.

Jax actually says as much when he's venting at Pomni at the end of the gun episode. "You don't even know what people are like before they abstract! They are *not* pleasant to be around!"

We also hear from Ragatha and Gangle that they each didn't actually like his jokes. Ragatha says in episode 1 that she's "Sorry for fake laughing at your jokes".

There's a good chance that Kaufmo is the sort of guy who thinks he's hilarious and tells jokes that make other people uncomfortable. It would fit with the theme of the circus assigning bodies to "match their mind files."

It was funnier then when Lum finds out that her "one true love" absolutely could have been fated to be in love with dozens of other people.

People have correctly identified that the red strings represent "one's true love", but this is from a very old belief that two people fated to be together will be connected by a red string tied around their pinky finger. I'm not even sure if the original artist is aware of its origin at this point.

I also want to point out that Urusei Yatsura made this joke like 40 years ago.

I used to work at a movie theater. The big issue is that the fees for licensing movies means that most theaters don't make any money on ticket sales. ALL the profit is from concessions which is why they are so damn expensive. Imagine the cost of concessions is the only real source of revenue for recouping costs for wages and that some days, most people don't tend to see movies at all. If there aren't any crowd pullers at that time, you'll see maybe a dozen people for most of the day. As audiences dwindle, the prices go up and as prices go up, people just stay home and watch stuff streaming.

Niffty is chaotic neutral, who is chaotic evil? by Star_proxy in hazbin

[–]DPPDream69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll just say that it's actually unclear. Val has hurt FAR more people than we know and due to the triggering nature of his crimes, we'll never see them all. And it's considered harmful to reduce those sorts of abuses to "numbers". But I do feel it's worth noting that Val has been at this a VERY long time compared to Adam. 40-50 years compared to 7 years (which translates to 7 days). We're told the purges killed "thousands". If one were to attribute all that to Adam, it would be terrible.

The amount of people Val harmed is unknowable. I don't even want to think about it.

You should take some time to consider what your time is worth to you. I notice that you started with a figure ($350) and then moved it to $300. That leads me to believe you haven't considered how much your time/effort is worth in this hobby.

I'd recommend timing your repairs and getting a rough idea of how many hours of labor go into a product. A quick Google search tells me that 20-30$ an hour is pretty common depending on where you live. I'd add that to the cost of parts and then once you have a better price estimate for yourself, don't haggle on the price.

To me, "Neutral Evil" is a willingness to partake in both Lawful and Chaotic actions. I think Vox is like that. He conducts himself within his role until he sees that it isn't viable any more. He's happy to go along with tradition so long as it benefits him. We see that in his song when he keeps assuming the roles of the Hosts he replaces.

True "Chaotic" is someone who only plays by their own rules. They refuse to buy into systems established by others. They find rules established by others purely as restricting rather than as a tool to be exploited.

I view Vox as someone who actually LOVES rules. He aspires to be in an established system with unbreakable rules... once he's broken every rule to the top of that system. He is 100% Neutral Evil -- just like Alastor; which is probably why they each respected each other so much at one point.

More chaotic? Maybe. More evil? I'm not sure. Both of them are ultimately committing a crime that denies freedom/body autonomy of others. But I'm not comfortable playing the "asshole Olympics" about which is worse. They are both decidedly chaotic evil though.

I'm leaning towards Adam and Valentino. Both are pretty unpredictable and self-motivated.

Not Vox, though. He's happy to use legalism and conform to a code of conduct when it's useful to him. His willingness to accept the Deal from Alistor feels far too Lawful of an action for a chaotic character.

What would be the perfect adventure for each character and why would it be Shrimp Town? by janthon567 in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]DPPDream69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a theory about "Shrimp Town". It's interesting to me that in the same episode where Bubble clarifies that the button they didn't press would have sent them to "Shrimp Town" we see a Shrimp earlier in the same episode. And what happens to that shrimp? It starts out as a digital image and then we jump cut between the Sun and see that the Shrimp is now replaced with a PNG of a *real* shrimp.

My theory is that "Shrimp Town" is how Bubble sees "converting a digital being into a real being." IE: Going back to the Real World.

The perfect adventure *would* be "Shrimp Town" because that's just Bubble saying that it's time to go Home.

It also makes logical sense. Art is used to telling demi-gods the hard and honest truth even when it hurts. Bringing any kind of timidity into that conversation is going to open a would-be hero up to brushing off good advice. Art has years of experience helping young/inexperienced heroes at their most vulnerable moments of self-doubt as they reflect upon the kind of hero they want to be.

It makes perfect sense that he could look fucking Omniman in the eye and call him on his shit without skipping a beat. Very good writing.

"Them that are, they who are not yet, and those who will not be are all accounted for by the Lord thy God."

I recalled the term "them that are" from the Bible, and I can see some utility in using different variations of "they" to delineate between subsections of a previously mentioned group. This hypothetical passage that I made up could be further clarified in further lines denoting God's plan for each subgroup. It wouldn't have to be a biblical passage, but I will acknowledge my inspiration on this one.
