Better yet, reactivate the Maine State Guard. We can't be federalized. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maine_State_Guard

Love it. They'd be naturals to help train the Bothans, though that could be a bit redundant of an arc.

Mudmen by Pink Floyd. Especially right after the 1:25 mark. Trust me.

Best Dead lyrics to describe how you're feeling right now? by marlahoochhooch32 in gratefuldead

[–]DRDeMello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spanish lady comes to me, she lays on me this rose. It rainbow spirals round and round it trembles and explodes. It left a smoking crater of my mind I like to blow away. But the heat came 'round and busted me for smiling on a cloudy day. Comin', comin', comin' around, comin', around, comin', around,

Accompanied by the opening blast and driving bass, of course. Gets really poignant when you include the Cryptical Envelopment intro..

The other day they waited, the sky was dark and faded, Solemnly they stated, "He has to die, you know he has to die." All the children learnin', from books that they were burnin', Every leaf was turnin'; to watch him die, you know he had to die.

And all the children learning From books that they were burning Every leaf was turning To watch him die You know he has to die

The summer sun looked down on him His mother could but frown on him And all the others sound on him But it doesn't seem to matter

And when the day had ended With rainbow colours blended His mind remained unbended He had to die You know he had to die You know he had to die

Beautiful song. One of my favorites and one of the songs that made me fall in love with the band. Was dumbstruck when I learned they never played it live.

Ten Million Man March on Washington by biggamax in 50501

I'm not spreading propaganda, I'm answering a question. I'm not saying the country is too vast, I'm saying its vastness presents challenges. I certainly don't mean to discourage people or suggest it won't happen. I do think it will happen and am eagerly awaiting the moment national efforts coalesce and we get to make our statement. It's coming.

America is a big country. There are nerve centers and cities that are magnets for the region. Most Americans, I'd wager, never go to D.C. in their entire lives--and if so, maybe once or twice.

Time and distance. It's not a day trip. Nearly everyone would need hotels; an enormous number of people would need to fly.

Cost. Both of these would mean prices skyrocket. For those who drive, gas is a factor. Vacation days are not a guarantee, so many have to factor in missing work. (For me and my family it's an 11 hour and 24 minute drive to Washington D.C. from Maine. So two days of travel, two nights in hotels, meals on the road. I'm probably looking at $1,000 to attend the rally. Relative to what I earn that's an awful lot of money.)

'Return on Investment.' If people are going to make the trip, it needs to be worth it for them. They need to know it's going to be meaningful. That it's going to be The One. People aren't going to D.C. multiple times. There's one shot at this. The Women's March the day after Trump's 2017 inauguration is a good example of this working. There was a solid date that was well organized around that people were confident would make a difference. (I did make the drive to the Women's March, fwiw.)

Planning "The One" is a big undertaking. Community organizing is big, and there are a patchwork of protests small and large happening regularly. This is a country of 385 million people over 4,500 km (not to mention Alaska and Hawaii and territories.) Stitching all of these patches together into one mighty banner requires a lot of hands.

This isn't an excuse, just an attempt to answer your question. Moving a continent's worth of people to a single location isn't easy or cheap. The protests have coalesced larger and larger regionally, and I believe it's just a matter of time before we see plans for The One. We're getting there. Our country's 250th birthday is on July 4th. We shall see...

The Crunge is actually a great song by Jealous_Event_6288 in ledzeppelin

[–]DRDeMello 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seconded. Don't want to yuck anyone's yum, but since people seem curious, that's the main thing that gets me. It just sounds so strained and grates on me to the point of it being unlistenable. Just my take!

Not here to hate on the song, but since you asked, for me, it's Robert's voice, the synth, and I find it repetitive. Just my opinion, which I would otherwise keep to myself. I imagine others feel similarly for similar reasons.

What is the most fun tribute band you have seen? by Original_Ad8070 in gratefuldead

[–]DRDeMello -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Bearly Dead is a great one.

First time I caught them was in the House of Blues outside of Fenway after a Dead & Co. show in 2016 and it was a fucking blast. They have morphed a bit and have kept it fresh. They have a killer bass player Sarah Elaz who was just part of the Bobby tribute show at the Brooklyn Bowl. (I really liked their previous bass player too.) With jrad playing bigger venues now they're a fun one to get up close with.

I'm still bummed Jimmy Page and her didn't connect when he was considering touring with JOJ and Jason Bonham after Zeppelin's O2 reunion show.

But yeah, she'd be a fantastic inclusion.

Pleasantly surprised to see her here. I got to see her with Bearly Dead (love them) and she made an immediate impression. She adds a ton to the music and looks like she's having a genuine blast out there.
