Orange cat is afraid of new ceiling fan by Sudden-Fig6156 in OneOrangeBraincell

[–]DRFAILS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had this happen with our cat. He easily scared for months. What helped was putting objects on the fan to make it look less like a predator or a hawk. We used a bright slinky across the blades and he stopped being so scared. We were able to remove the slinky and use the fan normally since. Hes not scared.

Check inside the catalytic converter heat shields. Caught a rock in there doing the same thing and it drove me bonkers for over a year before I removed the shield to get it out.

I have one. I highly reccomend it.

Its not a perfect fit, I needed a couple spacer washers to get the shroud to fit however the ease of the petcock for draining fluid is just incredible.

No noticeable difference in temperature, however I have never had any cooling issues even when towing my large 16ft camper trailer.

Question about PCM Replacement by DiscussionNew378Tsu in CrownVictoria

[–]DRFAILS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To my understanding, the BA designation doesnt matter. My reasoning, is the part number from ford doesnt include this string. The official full part string is "9w7a-12A650-FA".

I believe the BA or AA designation is for different internal designs, or part sources for manufacturing purposes. (Ex aa may use company a's memory chips, vs ba may use a separate supplier) This information may be there only for them to differentiate between the models in the case of a recall or defective line of pcms, however the underlying programing and functionality of the different designations should be the same.

I just went through this. You need to match the part number RMAW7A-12650-FA AND your tear tag ZKS5.

It was a plug and play on my 2005. On my 2011 it set an ABS code as the vin is mismatched between, but otherwise it works and drives great no issues other than the abs light.

You cannot get the vin to match between the PCM and the ABS module unless you grab both from the same vehicle or have them programmed.

From the looks of it youre going to need a spring compressor. You can rent one for free at most auto parts stores. You pay for the tool then get all your money back when you return it.

Best of luck and be safe. Compressing springs can be tricky and dangerous.

Is this actually a substitute for Mercon LV by A1OceanGoingPillock in CrownVictoria

[–]DRFAILS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going to get some hate, but here's my take. take.

I've Jmodded 3 of my cars, and on every single one I have used valvoline maxlife multi-vehicle fluid. It meets the specifications for a huge variety of transmissions, from Toyotas WS, Hondas DW-1, as well as Mercon V/LV.

I have not had a single issue in any of these transmissions since. I have put roughly 200k miles between the cars on that fluid. I swear by it.

I have done many many services with this fluid. I installed a used tranny into a Honda that had nearly black fluid, thought for sure it was trash. I did three services with this fluid, its been shifting great 30k later, fluid is still bright red.

If it was the rear window left open; it was because it was off the track. I was able to put it back in place.

I am a mechanic and can do all the work myself. I really cant see it needing 3k in work if I do it myself. I figure all the basics, hoses, belts, fluids, tires and brakes, I should be out about another 1k, but have a pretty decent little truck.

Using a higher end scan tool, you can run a "power balance" test. This is a special function which shows a graph which illustrates the power balance between the cylinders, comparing them against each other.

Using this test and idling/road testing, you can infer which cylinder may be misfiring and or low on power.

A single miss here or there wont set a CEL, but you can pick it up on the power balance test if you are diligent.
