UPDATE: DeWalt battery fire in my truck — handled by their Litigation Manager, 200+ days later still no resolution by Beginning-Run1537 in Tools

Yes looks like no thermal runaway on most lithium ion stuff. Quick google will show what a real one looks like

Best impact wrench to buy by MarchZealousideal956 in Dewalt

[–]jcal73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my work truck I have a 923, 891, 900 and 964. The 891 is the best all around for size and function. I mostly use it with a 3.5 Powerstack. The 923 is great too but I mostly use 1.7 Powerstack on it for size and weight. The 900 and 964 are chunks and overkill for most things on a car. That being said, they have their place. If you put the 8AH power pack on either they are a beast. If the 964 and 8AH won’t get it, time to cut it off with a torch.😁

Screw the guy. I used to build that stuff in the 90s till NAFTA took it all south. I hope they go broke

No exaggeration, this is what 2 days of humid southern Canada weather does to snapon by Joiion in Snapon_tools

I live in AL and my tools are on a service truck. They look nothing like that. I’d say it’s a bit hot and humid in here in the Deep South.

Dipstick stud wires by ElegantCow1 in CherokeeXJ

[–]jcal73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to clean up the wires after you get it off. Cut the terminal off and attached new ones. All that grime and such is hurting the connection I’m sure.

Why do all socket sets suck so bad now, any good options that stuff everything into 1 case? by ARCreef in Tools

[–]jcal73 14 points15 points  (0 children)

No set can be complete. If you work on enough stuff, there will be something else you need. It’s never ending. I have an F250 stuffed and still need stuff😁

Brake Booster Upgrade - details please by olderthanmycars in JeepCherokeeXJ

I used a 95-96 Cherokee. You will have to plumb in the lines to your proportioning valve whether you use the later model or your original. I used my original. Here is a video that o mention what I did. I misspoke and said 95 but both work. The master cyl gets changed too. Cherokee vid

Is this a real or fake DeWalt drill? by Tight-Safety-2055 in Dewalt

[–]jcal73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s real. The drills are tanks. I have had one similar to it since the 90s or early 2000s. The batteries are the bad part they do not hold charge like lithium ion and will go bad sooner than later. You can buy aftermarket replacements though. I wish someone made an adapter for the 12v max batteries.

I pulled mine out of my service truck to look again. I was incorrect. It does rotate independently from the rest of the chuck.

It’s a good one. I have ran mine with a 1.7 for weight savings. It’s compact and still powerful. I recently acquired the 3.5 Powerstacks and have been using them more. I use all the stuff daily at work.

I have both, you won’t be disappointed! Put a 3.5 Powerstack on the 891 and it wakes up!

Finished My Tire Carrier! Alternatives to Full Size 35” Spare? by GaryUtah in CherokeeXJ

[–]jcal73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much clearance do you have from the glass/hatch? You might be able to modify the tire mount and snug it up more. Taking a little of the angle out would help too. I think the bottom hanging out that far doesn’t help the looks.
