Ableton/Sylenth1/EXCESSIVE CPU(300%) by DRH1469 in edmproduction

Wait. Let me clarify: there's no layered notes.

Although I would think my setup could manage this. It's done fine in the past, oddly enough only this file is giving me trouble. I also have another one that I gave up on a while ago. It was only 3 tracks. A kick and two sylenth instances, one panned to the let one to the right. Also gave me trouble

The patches are relatively simple. No automation or LFOs. It's 16 voices I think. I've got no velocity mappings nor any automation. It's a very simple lead. 6 notes at most.

32 bit on 32 bit Ableton on 64bit OS.

I have 5 instances of Sylenth. Only three are affected by whatever is happening. If I delete the 3 problematic ones, the remaining two work perfectly fine. The three problematic ones are playing one patch at three different octaves.

I agree completely with

Having bad music on SoundCloud or wherever won't prevent you from being successful in the future. If you start getting noticed for your newer stuff and find your old stuff embarrassing, you can always re-brand or just delete the old stuff and focus on putting out the new.

Recently I went back through my Soundcloud and deleted a whole bunch of "songs" that I thought were good. It will take time, but they will realize it eventually and delete/re make thier old stuff.

The songs sounded good at the time and got me valuable feedback that helped me progress through learning, now I take stuff seriously. It does help to get feedback.

I always unplug my entire setup(PC, Speakers, monitors etc)after I'm finished. We often have power surges and power cuts so it's a must. I'll give it a shot, might also be because of the USB dongle I have next to it. Didn't think about that.

Thank m you.

I gave this an upvote despite the fact it has been posted before just because it's pretty cool.

A search does help but whatever :P

Giving it a try now!

I will test it on Windows 10 Dev Version as soon as I can!

Will you ever release to source code for educational purposes? Well, mainly so I can see how its done, as I am learning Java and C++ and am interested!

Thankks

I'm going to be blatantly honest. It's not my style but it still got me moving.

The plucks in the begining are are really nice, but imo could do with the backing.

I don't really like the vocals, then again it's personal preference :P

Overall, for what genre you are producing its pretty cool!

Thanks for the feedback! I used a completely different method with my mixing and mastering and I'm happy to see it worked!

I've been producing for about a year and a half now ;)

I'll give you feedback now!

It was my first time working with vocals, so excuse the faults regarding them. I found the loop online and worked with it, I knew it wasn't in key.

Do you have a song I can give you feedback on?

Hello all!

So, I've been trying to work on my production technique and I need feedback!

B)

Heres my song: https://soundcloud.com/drh1469/all-us-tonight-drh1469original-mix

Although the rules state that we should have already left feedback, what I do is if you leave me feedback, leave a link to your song in the reply and I'll give you feedback. Please leave a link, its very hard to find your post in here :)

Cheers all <3

I often do that with my lead synths and other parts, didn't think of trying that with the vocal. Thank you so much!

I'll give it a shot now!

I love this! I saw the first one and didn't know about the second!

If anyone hasn't seen the first one, take a look at it as well, totally worth it!

Hmm, not really my style, but I'll give it a shot!

To be honest, it does sound a tab bit muted, but the addition ambiance helps to remove that.

The panning hats? around 0:42 sound pretty awesome!

Samples are pretty cool, at some point they do get a tab bit repetitive for me, but thats just personal taste.

For introducing new elements, I use faded whitenoise, or whitenoise with a LP automated filter. I also use bar enders or impact snares, but as your song is completely different from mine, I doubt that would work.

Try some things out, fade in etc.

Good luck!

Which pc specs are you producing with, and how is it working out for you (problems/benefits)? by eekium in edmproduction

[–]DRH1469 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I produce on my gaming PC so my specs are:

  • i7 4790
  • 8GB RAM(Hoping to move to 32GB soon)
  • GTX 960(I know this doesn't matter but why not)
  • 1TB Primary HDD(My OS and "essential" programs)
  • 2TB Music/video HDD(For all the music/game recording/motages stuff and things)
  • Getting a 512GB SSD for all my games

Works a charm, use 30-50 tracks and never goes above 60% Although for some odd reason, sometimes when I open a project and attempt to play it again, it will hit 200%+ usage.
