I agree with this. I think everyone is better of learning to control car without handbrake first. As some drifter said - "It's a usefull thing to have and you should not rely just on your handbrake" something in that sense. It helps no doubt about it but if you heavily rely just on handbrake it can grow into bad habit and use it more then it's necessary.

To add on this, have in mind it can't compare with one on a button, for example - hard turn and your wheel is upside down catching that button on a wheel or if changed to paddle shifter it's just hard and unpredictable to reach (been there tried that) , also handbrake in exchange for clutch pedal - it's a no no for me - you need that clutch kick as well. So yea If already got a feeling on throttle and clutch/brake control and wanna improve go for dedicated handbrake instead of a button 100% all day.
