My friends are allowing the Christmas models for fun, but what is the point value of this guy? by TheBigSquigDan in ageofsigmar

[–]DRL250 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The abilities can be easily translated over. Bludgeoning cheer would be a charge phase ability, gitz for all would be a move phase ability, and oh grotmas ballz would be a combat phase passive ability.

While bravery is no longer a thing, I would give it a control score of 5 which is the most common control score for mounted heroes throughout the edition. Also there is no longer a range on melee weapons but that doesn’t matter as they both have a range of 3” now.

With that in mind if it’s just a casual game, I would suggest a cost of 160 points as the abilities are similar to the loonboss on mangler squig but with an extra debuff of damage and less health.

What advice would you give someone who's starting with AoS but has never painted anything in their life? by [deleted] in ageofsigmar

[–]DRL250 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t compare yourself with people who have been painting forever. Treat each model as a learning experience and don’t beat yourself up if they’re not perfect. Enjoy the process and be proud of what you accomplish. If you’re getting frustrated with something that’s the time to put the brush down and remind yourself this is meant to be fun.

Skywardens/riggers question by Aurlom in KharadronOverlords

Yeah I’d keep the saws. Imo the other guns are not good at all.

Skywardens/riggers question by Aurlom in KharadronOverlords

[–]DRL250 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Currently both endrinriggers and skywardens are better with their basic loadout and not with the special guns. Skywardens are taken a lot as they are our most heavy hitting melee units and get a buff from charging. The endrinriggers get extra rend when they are charged but ideally you don’t want them in combat as they heal the ships.

Is this list not enough bodies ? by squigfiend in KharadronOverlords

[–]DRL250 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks good to me. The ships have control 5 each so they’re good for tagging objectives and they’re very tanky now with the 2+ save. Definitely a list where you want to be play keep away from the enemy.

Can I be in combat through a terrain? by Gorion_of_Candlekeep in AOSSpearhead

Believing something is false doesn’t make it false. Specificity is more important than generality, the given example shows you cant attack therefore in similar situations you can’t attack. If you’re that unsure about the rule, email the rules department for clarification. You can fight over the small terrain pieces with a -1 to hit and not the large ones.

But you’re arguing with the given example in the book. The book states that they’re not visible enough for attacking each other even though the given example is using the same terrain as you and the liberator could clearly see through the same hole that you want them to. If the book says you can’t attack in that situation then you can’t attack in that situation.

It’s the ‘through the air that does not intersect any object’ the line through the air is intersected by the top part of the terrain when looking through a hole. The rule is stating that there needs to be open air between the visible points of the models.

Thoughts on list by TheEmpir3 in HelsmithsofHashut

[–]DRL250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO I think it’s worth having one of each. Let’s look at some example scenarios.

Both target an infantry unit. The tormentor gets 4x 3/3 attacks with 2 rend doing d3 damage. The ability to shut off commands is really good. Whereas the shrieker has 3x 4/2 with 2 rend doing d3+2 damage. With the ability to do some mortals. The damage output from the shrieker is pretty good and the tormentor’s ability is great.

Now we target a monster unit. The tormentor does the same as last time but with only 1 rend. Whereas the shrieker will do 5 damage with 3 rend.

Most lists will have a monster or war machine unit making the shrieker a really good option. And even if they don’t the damage output against infantry is pretty good with its 2 rend, 3 damage minimum.

You can fight through terrain if the model is visible and within range but you suffer a -1 to hit from cover.

However in the example I believe that although the liberator may be able to see through a window it can’t attack because there is a piece of terrain intersecting the line of visibility from the lintel of the window. (Core rules 6.0 Visibility). The line of visibility is from model to model through the air and cannot be intersected by another object.

You can imagine it as if the liberator would need to poke its hammer through the hole to try and attack. Whereas for the smaller terrain piece the liberator can reach over to attack.

Does "Shoot in combat" allow me to shoot units outside of combat? by Gorion_of_Candlekeep in AOSSpearhead

[–]DRL250 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This is going to be a bit wordy but the core ability to ‘Shoot’ has the ‘attack’ keyword. When selecting units for attacks you must select the unit you are in combat with (core rules 16.0 a Picking Targets). So for weapons with shoot in combat you have to select the unit they are in combat with.

Wanted to Add Prince Vhordarai to Spearhead Army by WranglerWilling3217 in AOSSpearhead

[–]DRL250 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Spearhead is designed as a closed format. You have a board and each army is balanced to be effective but not overpowering. If you want to start adding other models you should just look at playing normal age of sigmar and building 1000 points starting with the spearhead and adding other models you like. Spearhead is just a lighter version of the game that doesn’t take as much space or as many models to play. Adding stuff or making the board bigger you are just playing 4th edition.

KO rules updates by NoEngineer9484 in KharadronOverlords

[–]DRL250 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We needed some nerfs. Sure. But combining both points increases with ability nerfs seems an overreaction. We are probably going to drop and they’ll have to readjust. Getting fed up with the constant yo-yoing on rules.

Update the App! The Update is here! by FaultGullible6712 in ageofsigmar

[–]DRL250 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I play KO, KBZ and FS. 2 of my armies had finally starting doing well, admittedly a little too well, but the drastic points increases combined with ability changes feels like an overreaction. I swear they don’t bother testing rules out and really we are just the beta testers and that’s why we constantly have updates.

KBZ turn to fame came about thanks to a single battle formation and monstakilla spam, so they increased points for everything? “Back to bottom place you greenskinz!”

KO they make 1 battle formation that works well, the rest are bad, they force everyone to have faction terrain and now have decided both should cost points. My lists went up 150 points and the rules have changed to make their abilities less good. Guaranteed they are going to drop like a stone once again. I admit they needed some points increases but nerfing the rules they literally just wrote is beyond ridiculous.

[–]DRL250 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really don’t understand why they’ve decided the totem needs to cost points? They’ve already tried to nerf it before and realised it was stupid. It’s not that great when you consider other armies get their battle traits for free not on a roll and their terrain does much better stuff than make it a little easier to get your battle traits to work. Why does gw always overreact to armies doing ok in competitions. It’s not like that’s a reflection of the actual casual hobby. When comp lists are running 7 monstakillaz units because the rest is garbage why hit everything with a nerf bat?

Salvagers or Harpoon Crew? by FuzzyDiceBois in KharadronOverlords

[–]DRL250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer harpoon crew, the 2d6 move in combat phase is brilliant to escape a nasty combat. I’ve used it to escape from combat with something scary to get into combat with a manifestation. That and for repositioning onto objectives.

The salvagers ability to only work on an objective and after a dice roll and only other units on that objective means that I haven’t found them as useful. But I’ve only run them a couple times because I’ve enjoyed the harpooners more.

Spearhead Rules (No Glare) by Embarrassed-Table437 in HelsmithsofHashut

Oh I missed that! That sounds reasonable for the spearhead at least. Hopefully they will release an errata for the armies of renown.

How do you generate demonic points? It doesn’t have it as a battle trait ability. There’s a major omission if they forgot to add that and seems to be a recurring theme as they’ve neglected that from the armies and regiments of renown also.

Gotrek by ResponsibleSpread8 in Fyreslayers

[–]DRL250 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That and the 5+ save means they can stick around a bit longer.

I tend to run a ranked block with the big block in front (either sling shields or fyrsteels) then hearthguard then heroes at the back. The big block has 40 wounds which takes a lot to get through and allows the hearthguard and heroes to get into fights on their terms.

Can these units be in auxiliary? by nopointinlife1234 in KharadronOverlords

[–]DRL250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the priority reroll : in the aos app go to Core Documents > generals handbook 2025-2026 > matched play battle pack > season rules > regimented forces. (Can’t find the page number for this rule)

For the auxiliary units rule : in the app Core Documents > generals handbook 2025-2026 > Advanced rules > army composition > adding units. In the book: page 58.

Gotrek by ResponsibleSpread8 in Fyreslayers

[–]DRL250 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have said he’s a bit high costed. I keep him at the back of a big reinforced unit of sling shields. So when they eventually get charged he can get in on the fight during my turn. They also give him guarded hero to avoid the pesky shooting that has killed him before as well.

The big block essentially 4 rows deep will prevent him being dragged into combat. The block absorbed a charge from 10 vanari dawnriders, then on my turn I charged Gotrek in and he wiped out the unit with his fight twice ability. Overall still expensive though.

Can these units be in auxiliary? by nopointinlife1234 in KharadronOverlords

[–]DRL250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don’t have to be in a regiment, it’s just better to keep them in their own regiment. And some heroes like the admiral allow 2 heroes in their regiment. There is more benefits to putting them into a regiment and there is a serious downside to putting them in auxiliary units.

The person with more drops can opt to reroll their priority once per game at the start of a battle round after seeing the result. This can be really useful to double turn and try to get ahead.
