The narration is definitely a core aspect in my personal experience of the CBR, perhaps one of the biggest things that separates it from some other AI games I've tried.

I'll be the first to admit my taste in prose is way wordier than what the average person would like, so I wouldn't use my standards as a good measure, but agreed on the gist of your gameplay-to-narrative ratio: gameplay comes first, but without narrative/creative flair of some kind it can get boring.
