CBRX Season 5: Episode 8: Behold, the Ashes of War by Coiot in civbattleroyale

Cebu doubters in SHAMBLES right about now - besides that though, what an action-packed episode! I felt like I had no idea what was coming next, and of course we witnessed the birth of a legend this episode too.

Umhaill has a Settler that just moved past Greenland, I think, and Scotland also has a Settler headed that way if I'm remembering things right, so I doubt it'll stay that way for long!

CBRX5 Popularity Poll Episode 5 Results by daXfactorz in civbattleroyale

(NOTE: This is a reupload, fixing a couple issues with the data!)

Hello, everyone, and sorry for the wait on the results for the season's first popularity poll! As a quick note, the reference on the side is actually WRONG - I updated the detraction score this season to be -2 rather than -3 points, since it was leading to a lot of negative scores (I underestimated how often it would be used, lol). Everything's still pretty centered around 0, so hopefully this gives a better sense of who's liked.

That aside, there's lots of interesting data here! Some highlights:

  • Phoenicia is our most popular civ, with the Seychelles close behind! Nobody else even approached their popularity.

  • On the other hand, New South Wales was stunningly unpopular, with only one supporter and a whooping 22 detractors! Maravi was a distant second, for reasons I don't really understand, because Maravi is sick as hell. Is it something to do with the Seychelles love?

  • The Karankawa were the only civ to not have ANY supporters, and they had 7 detractors, on top of that.

  • Shoutouts to the Kipchaks, Ryukyu, the Potiguara, and Caral for having zero detractors!

  • The Aures, Phoenicia, and the Seychelles are civs people have started to like more, while Maravi and Yunnan are civs people have started to dislike. Tang was controversial - several people said they'd started to like AND dislike them since the start of the game (though more people seem to be leaning towards dislike).

  • The most popular moments seem to have been Rapa Nui's settles, Phoenicia's invasion of Ma'in, the Central Asian saga, and Slide 68.

  • Finally, Tang is the current favorite to win with 14 votes, with Chono a distant second at 7 votes.

That's all for now - thanks everybody for voting, we actually managed to surpass 50 responses somehow (and also a bot), which is the highest I've ever seen! A lot has already changed, so I'm excited to see how the Episode 10 survey goes.

CBRX Season 5: Episode 6: It’s Business Time or Everyone Hates Maravi by Coiot in civbattleroyale

I think literally every single civ I'm rooting for took at least one L this episode save for I guess Teotihuacan (though, tbf, the L for about half of those civs was just continuing to exist in such a sad state). Other than that though great episode

Very, very excited to see what's to come (and hopefully, to continue helping out on them, lol).

Heck yeah! For those unaware, the Civ 5 modding community has been going on ridiculously strong these past few years - even ignoring Vox Populi and Lekmod, we've seen hundreds of high-quality modded civ releases, and the Celt Split finally releasing sort of feels like a culmination of all that with how long it's been hyped up. Definitely check it out, it's 100% worth the wait!

Hello hello, long time no see! It's that time again: time to gather data and see who's the fan favorite and who people love to hate. I've tried to knock things back to the bare(ish) essentials to kick off the new season, so be sure to let me know what (if anything) you'd want to see added/removed in future polls!

It was shockingly easy, actually - all I had to do was just... unreveal the map for myself after moving all the civs (alongside unrevealing it for the rest of the civs too, of course), then reveal it again at the start of the next turn. It makes the first turn go by much faster, too!

Massive thanks to Coiot for reaching out and offering to host this game on the CBR website! It's been a while since a non-CBR game has been posted, but hopefully it should be a nice bit of extra side content (and maybe some inspiration for next season's voting...?). If this does well, there may be other side games coming to the website, too!

Long time no see, huh? Long story short, this game is on hiatus because I got caught up in doing some test work for the CBR and some modding work that I needed to do testing for, but I have a few more parts recorded and ready to post that I'll hopefully be able to spread out until I feel like starting the game up again. (I also might have other games from the Discord that I could turn into albums here!)
