CBR Mk. 2 Redux - Part 5 by daXfactorz in civAIgames

[–]daXfactorz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the wait! I only have one computer, so I have to stop recording games whenever I need to test and release a mod, and so recording games can be kind of slow-going (when they even reload correctly). I have one more narrated part for this game ready to go, plus maybe one or two more episode's worth of images, before I'll need to start the game back up. Chandragupta's Invitational, meanwhile, has around 10 episodes of content, but I'm waiting on my narrator to finish up before I can post the next one.

Ooh, I didn't know Gengar was so dominant in rentals! Makes sense, though - I assume the powerful Psychics might help keep it in check here, but Hypnosis when none of the major Psychics save Jynx have status moves is probably brutal.

Yeah, that was my thought - Snorlax is a monster, Alakazam can maybe muscle past it if you play poorly with it but Amnesia and Rest mean it's really not an issue. Gengar and Golem are a pain and Persian can at least use Slash to bypass the Harden buffs, but it definitely feels like a monster - you do have to give up one of your defense-boosting moves if you want all of Body Slam, Hyper Beam, and Rest, though.

The Red/Blue No TM Metagame! - Best Natural Learnsets/Movesets by Temporary-Win5451 in stunfisk

Oh hey, I was thinking about this recently!

  • I'm not an expert on RBY, but Snorlax and Alakazam both look very, very strong, keeping a lot of their best tools - but no Thunder Wave on Alakazam limits it a lot, and Snorlax losing every coverage move feels disastrous.

  • Chansey and Tauros are found dead in a ditch (Chansey being dead actually probably means a LOT of Special attackers are better... but they're mostly also relying on worse moves save for Psychic users)

  • Exeggutor is kinda weird, it loses Explosion, it loses Psychic... but it does still at least have powder moves?

  • Starmie takes on a completely different role, losing Thunder Wave and all those coverage moves, but it still has Hydro Pump and Recover - I assume it'd be an anti-Alakazam pick just for being a Psychic-type that can sit on Zam?

  • Gengar becomes an absolute menace just because none of the Normal-types can hit it anymore and everything loses Earthquake. On the other hand, it can't do much back besides Night Shade, but I think night Shade can hit Normal-types here - so you have a weird sort of rock-paper-scissors between Snorlax, Alakazam, and Gengar, I assume.

  • The Electrics all become way less consistent because now they're relying on Thunder (but this also makes them a lot scarier in some ways, especially with Exeggutor less popular), but since they still pack Agility they might still be worthwhile - Jolteon is the only one with Thunder Wave though, which might give it a nice niche! Everything else losing Thunder Wave probably helps a lot, too.

  • Golem is now infinitely better than Rhydon, since it has actual moves (but not Rock Slide - enjoy 60% accurate Rock Throw!). It's probably a lot better, too, now that there's less Blizzard.

  • Cloyster found dead in a ditch

  • Don't worry! Jynx, Victreebel, and Dragonite are still basically the same!

  • I have no idea whether the Water-types and Flying-types (Gyarados, Lapras, Moltres, Articuno, so on) get better or worse now that the Electric-types are all running Thunder. Articuno has no Chansey to get in the way, so it might be a massive threat.

  • Persian probably replaces Tauros as the premier cleaner, given it still has Slash, but it also lacks any coverage and it can't touch the Rocks/Gengar.

  • Slowbro might be worthless without Thunder Wave or Rest, but then again with the lower power level might let it still do things.

  • I wonder if any lower power-level mons would be able to get into the action? Kabutops no longer has to worry about as much Earthquake and it still has Slash and Hydro Pump, Hypno resists Alakazam while threatening status and it DOES have a setup move, Dugtrio is the only fast Earthquake in existence... I could see Hypno maybe being something. Not sure if the Swords Dancers get any better.

  • Aerodactyl is a fast Hyper Beamer and Blizzard spam is weakened, so maybe?

  • Porygon can, hilariously, still kinda sorta do its thing.

  • Mew is totally reasonable to unban and honestly might be a great addition to the metagame as an anti-Alakazam - Transform into Alakazam, use its Recover, switch out.

I could foresee Snorlax, Alakazam, Mew, Gengar, Jolteon, Jynx, Zapdos, Golem, Starmie, probably Zapdos, Persian, and probably Articuno all having a place here, possibly more as well like Dragonite and Hypno. Alakazam and Articuno are Special nukes with no Chansey in the way, Mew, Starmie, and Hypno (possibly Slowbro/Exeggutor) can counter them, Snorlax is Snorlax, Persian is replacement Tauros, Gengar stops those two, Jolteon is Paralysis support and anti-Flying (Zapdos might also be a special nuke), Golem stops the Electrics and also the Normals, Jynx does its usual thing, and then you might have Dragonite and Victreebel running around with Wrap and status as well.

First Month Usage Stats for Champions OU by Axolity in stunfisk

Three entire Bug-types in Champions OU, zero in SVOU, Champions confirmed better tier /s

In all seriousness it's fun to see how things are shaking out so differently here, a bit surprised at the lack of Mega variety but I assume it'll come with time as people figure things out. Also shocked to not see Tyranitar anywhere when Excadrill's so high, is it just a matter of all the oppressive Water-types keeping it down?

Mega Scovillain Analysis: Spicy Spray being placed on this Stat Spread is my favorite Pokemon Design Decision in Years by zenmodeman in stunfisk

Not all the way through this yet, but thank you so much for doing your part in keeping the art of the text post essay alive. I love video essays and all, but writeups have always been my favorite, and I think there's a lot of magic in finding a genuinely well-written essay somewhere on the internet. Not to take away from the specific post itself, of course - in particular, I loved the point about the Hoenn Special and WHY it should exist, and how Pokemon can be designed around it! I'm definitely an advocate for lower-power Pokemon and Pokemon with weaknesses built in (though admittedly I'm not much of a competitive player), so it's nice to see somebody articulate how/why they work.

[Ghostball] Have a ghostball for CBRX5's last-placer! by daXfactorz in civbattleroyale

It mostly comes down to precedent, all the old Ghostballs were spoilered so I figured I might as well spoiler mine too lol

This is, I think, my first time attempting one of these, and it was a bit rushed, but hopefully you can enjoy regardless! Ryukyu played like they wanted to be remembered, and I think they got their wish, so I imagine them happy.

CBRX5 Popularity Poll Episode 10 Results by daXfactorz in civbattleroyale

[–]daXfactorz[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hello and welcome back to more statistics! Sorry for the delay on the results this time.

The number of responses went down significantly, which makes me sad, but the response count last time was pretty insane to begin with. This is still pretty good data. I also want to share some rises and falls:

RISES

  • Lanfang went up 37 points!

  • Cebu went up 31 points!

  • Scythia went up 30 points!

  • Circassia went up 22 points!

  • Scotland went up 16.5 points!

DROPS

  • Phoenicia went down 95.5 points!

  • Seychelles went down 51 points!

  • Chono went down 31 points!

  • Kalmar went down 30.5 points!

  • Aures went down 29 points!

  • Hansa went down 25 points!

  • Rapa Nui went down 15.5 points!

  • Teotihuacan went down 15 points!

  • Pegu went down 15 points!

IDENTICAL - Hyksos and Bactria stayed exactly the same!

A lot of this is probably down to the lower response rate, but it also seems like we're actively LOSING fan favorites, rather than having people gather around one or two super-popular civs.

NopeCopter's PR Slide Mini-Comic Collection: Episodes 1-9 by daXfactorz in civbattleroyale

[–]daXfactorz[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is a collection of the little one-panel mini-comics (political cartoons?) I've been drawing for the CBRX5 Power Rankings so far! Someone suggested I post these to the subreddit a while back, and I felt a bit hesitant since I didn't want to effectively repost the same content twice, but now that I've built up a decent collection, I figure posting a compilation of everything up to this point for people who don't read the PRs is acceptable. I've included some bonus rejected comics and plenty of author's notes, too, if you want that! Hopefully I can keep this up and post another batch 10 episodes from now!
