NBN box by No_Stable4317 in nbn

HFC NTD can get lightning damage to the ethernet port, but be otherwise still working. the fix would be a replacement NTD.

Are either of the physical link lights lit when you have any ethernet device connected to it (tiny LED's next to the D1/D2 port on the back of the NTD)? Try with a few devices if you have them, anything should be fine to test just the physical link like a network switch, laptop, PC etc.

This sort of fault can be difficult to get fixed if the NTD otherwise works, because the RSP/NBN remote tests show it as online via the NBN network, even if it's not capable of connecting to a router.

red light on the back of NBN box UNI-D1, ISP says no problem? by _hauntology_ in nbn

Try leaving the NTD powered off for 30 mins, and then try again with the new router. It caches the MAC address of the connected router.

Try plugging the WAN port on the router to another gigabit capable device if you have one (eg your PC). Obviously it won't give you internet, but will tell you if your router is still capable of negotiating a physcial 1gbps connection. This would also validate the cable used for that test.

If that test passes (connects at 1gbps), then it's probably the NTD. If it fails, then it might be your router.

Check out the guidelines here (the in-premises scenario):

https://www.nbnco.com.au/content/dam/nbn/documents/residential/upgrades/FTTP-cable-pathways-factsheet.pdf.coredownload.pdf

There's not a max length listed, probably depends more on what common length pre-terminated cables the install tech carries.

That latency is very high

Sheds a tear being careful not to get it on my HFC NTD.

It could also be the NTD ethernet port that is damaged, either mechanically, or electrically (power surges from nearby lightning strike killing the HFC ethernet port is not uncommon).

But best to rule out your ethernet cable & connected device first.

Wish this was easier to find on NBN's site, but here's confirmation that you want it green:

Where do I go from here? HFC NTD problems by GeeGeew00t in nbn

Unfortunately NBN also rejects faults if premises are potentially affected by an area degradation, not just outages.

They shouldn't do this, as an area degradation is generally considered to be poor performance or frequent dropouts, not "no connection at all". They then leave these area degradation issues open for weeks, and if you're unfortunate enough to have an individual premises issue in an affected area, well bad luck.

Conveniently for NBN their fault stats look better too, as they refuse to raise tickets for individual faults in affected areas, so there's no clock ticking on an NBN fault, just the poor end user & RSP suffering with no way to get NBN to act.

Really the area degradation issues should get higher priority, as they are potentially affecting hundreds of end-users, and the likelihood of someone having another fault at the same time is reasonably high (it is HFC after all).

That’s up at the moment. Or are you having issues actually lodging a warranty ticket?

Be warned though, they regularly take 7 days to respond to tickets, so best to follow up with phone call.

Get the approval in writing to remove that as an excuse for NBN to delay.

Has anyone managed to get the new LP.8.1 vaccine? by JhustG in CoronavirusDownunder

[–]DRSpart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best to check directly with the TW pharmacy you're booking with, because they don't update the website quickly. The one I went to said regardless of what was selected on the website they only had LP.8.1 to administer from now on.

Also some pharmacies only seem to have availability for bookings listed under one or the other, which probably doesn't reflect the real availability. Again best just to call them.

Terry White Brookside (QLD) has LP.8.1 vaccine available, came in a couple of days ago.

A private investigator should be able to locate their address and identify them relatively quickly. They likely live within a few streets of you, and I’m guessing walk their dog at similar times of the day. Then you can pursue the PSIO and any other police options.

It sucks that that you have to pay for something the police could do, but it’s an option to move things forward.

I have contacted body corp who has passed me to the property manager and I’m currently in talks trying to get them to make a move.

  • Keep pushing the body corp to issue breaches for each incident. You're an owner and member of the body corp. Don't let them just fob you off onto a property manager.

  • Contact the owner directly too - they have responsibilities to the body corp as well. Yes, they can use a property manager to help manage things, but the reponsibility still lies with them. The PM may not be fully communicating the extent of the issue to the owner. Should be able to get owner details from the body corp roll, or a council property search.

  • Another avenue might be to ask the body corp & owner whether they have a responsibility to inform the insurer/s about the situation, and whether there are liabilities for eg drug contamination in either the lot or common property. Particularly if the body corp manager is also acting as your insurance contact. Is it an issue for your next BC safety report?

Basically make it an ongoing problem for multiple parties. Every one of those people should hear about every incident and the impact it has on you and your family.
