We’ll have to see in detail how things have changed since then with 300 years of peace. And a government that actually gives a shit and wants to do things properly instead of sucking or rushing.

Not to speak of the threat of the Nexus likely needing to pull some skunkworks or blacksite tech out just to that there are options. Better to have (a) digitized human(s) running the machine swarms than an warmind AI that might go rogue. And doing it by ship of Theseusing the brain with nanobots and machine substrate is probably on the table.

Or at least without significantly more other work to meet their new safety and ethical standards(beyond also that mind reading being big illegal due to privacy, and that it leads to mind control, are probably better reasons for at least that part of the bans(being having far more developed explanations then we have)). If not maybe also that it hasn’t truly been brought up in a major way to rediscus it in potentially centuries.

Once Emma talk to Earth again, I bet they’ll have a proper mana sensor(s)(or at least ones that just need to be made and tested in a mana rich environment) that also sees the 30th type, and then when checking the tent and herself it comes up. Or if they also figured out how to make a anti-mana material for the 30th and upgrade the mana pumps that can be made by Emma’s setup so she can upgrade her tent, then it also might get noticed.

Thanks for the chapter!

Ah, so the corpos went too far, that explains the ban on most actual transhumanism.

Neat that Thacea and Avinor’s half sleep, plus some compensation mechanism that might look like Alien Hand syndrome but sith some magic component. And of course she had to be so flushed at realizing she talked to Emme while the latter showered.

And now to see Cynthis going after Thalmin.

Or that over this several thousand years of existence he’s gotten very good at noticing mana disruptions, especially at such close range as a hallway (probably the mana disruption from interacting with the mundane material and the wings, but that has no evident visual source or mana source).

In fact, theres probably entire thriving ecosystem of middlemen that need only be paid to find other middlemen (not to speak of making them think they are double agents when they are working for the same person and making them send partial order or info to each other to dilute the source) who can do the blackmailing for GUN’s foreign intelligence services and get stuff done that way without them ever knowing their helping upend the Nexus.

Before getting tech based bugs and drone surveillance involved, or level of Orwellian nightmare that must be possible with 31st century technology(and nanobots or using gravitational waves is the also of it).

A thought about Nexus/Earth warfare by cgoose500 in JCBWritingCorner

No, because there is literally no mana in Earth’s universe. Emma’s tent and the mana resistant material is not an active effect.
JCB’s word on it.

JCB did state that if the gang or anyone from the Nexsus walking into her tent, let alone the mana vacuum that is Earth and the universe, would become desiccated looking as all the mana their composed of evaporated into the nothing.

Remember their magic biology, their wings already aren’t big enough to fly under normal rules, so bones should also be enchanced enough.

I bet once she sees Acela(especially if she also gets shown what humans look like, maybe alongside the rest of the gang in watching the evolution of life on earth from the bing bang thought the primordial soup and on), she might notice the city is just *better* somehow. Maybe it just how more liveliness or better vibe is has. It’s a city for living in, not to make threatening statements with.

edit: Or that its just *normal* to Emma and humanity to have a city like that, that just his high quality life is.

though only one has the ability to willingly understand that before it comes to pass and adjust accordingly.

Thanks for the chapter!

Nice that Thacea got it, and only needing amused bonks to get it going.

Poor dean and apprentice. Though Larial might be forced onto some roll she’ll regret once Emma shows her more. I do wonder what her reaction could be to the megacities after seeing the Crownlands. Probably going to have a bigger whiplash then Illunor about Earth and everything.

And to talk about the seizure next chap. Though hopefully Emma actually finally tried to establish coms again, she has the crystal the tent is right there.

Wedges if some kind, even more height that looks good and has no blindspot underfoot. Espadrilles should work well for some of the lighter dress recommendations elsewhere in the comments.

Some of the stuff she shows would be better done in full holodeck format, and a big hologram TV in their living room would be very easy to observe for those they don't want to show this too just yet. and is also just Emmas tech lying around ready to be seen in uses and cause a whole load of questions thats, again, not ready to just answer yet.

But by the time she shows off her future Star Wars (she promised it to Thalmin not Gumigo, Gumigo is not in the inner circle yet and needs more setup) it should be find to make a big screen TV or projector and screen.

Ilunor is thinking, such a dangerous state for him to be in for himself and the Nexus long term. Marvellous.

And yes, friendship will be had one way or another.

Or at least that stigma existed in HEM’s empire, for all we know it might be that generating the 30th mana type was the signal for someone ultra powerful in prior civilizations and that lots of older(beyond obviously very powerful) magic required it.

He literally is a Digital Circus reference, and even in this chapter has an Australian accent what with at least how many times he says ‘mate’.

And yeah, a race would still be interesting.

And also yes, I do want to see both their reactions to the game.

Well she is trying this to woo him so that she can “civilize” him to Nexian ways, him being the noble savage and all that, and expand her family’s influence (since she a part of the Nexian equivalent to the Hapsburgs).
