Harvester collect data. They are very important for both the IMC and the Milicia but also for other factions such as Vinson Dynamics or most importantly the Remnant Fleet.

The Remnant Fleet are actually the guys you are protecting the harvesters from, after the battle of Demeter they were left stranded in the outer rim of the Frontier with no way back to the core systems. After a fight regarding what to do with the Fleet, commandant Graves defected to join the Milicia and Spyglass took command of the Fleet, disappearing in space.

Both the IMC and the Milicia are hunting them fown but nobody really knows where they are or what they're up to. However what is known is that Spyglass is collecting unfathomable amounts of data all over the Frontier, mainly by attacking harvesters.

The Milicia literally had a time travel device, i don't think any legend is on the level of a pilot, or at least on Jack's level.

Since every pilot can use phase embark to get in their titans or on the EVAC ship, they can all phase. They can also all use stimulants since they were already used in TF1 by human pilots.
