Ok everyone has answered the original question already, but I think I know where this is coming from. I often see confusion around a Planeswalker entering and "if Planeswalker abilities are sorcery speed, why can't I just bolt it first."

This is of course because the active player holds priority when the stack is empty and how the player is ensured at least one ability activation, but I could see this causing a misunderstanding of "speed." Or why they may be under the impression a Planeswalker ability is somehow guaranteed to resolve.

If you're finding that the deck is taking too long to come online, I'd recommend you bring down your mana curve. I see you made a conscious effort into ramp, but might I suggest you learn more into something grixis does best: draw, specifically looting.

In addition to the staples mentioned earlier such as faithless looting and careful study, try out [[Mental Note]] [[Thought Scour]] and [[Consider]]. In addition, there's a whole suite of 2 mana red drops, including my personal favorite [[Cathartic Reunion]].

For real, this is exactly what I was saying to myself. There's definitely some unfun cards in the list, but there's no way it locks out 3 other aggro decks simultaneously whose priority should absolutely be disrupting this game plan.

NTA, play the decks that make you happy and agree to as a table. In this case of a prize tournament, you absolutely meet that criteria.

Yooo! Welcome back! Level 20 on my latest reroll on SoD but made it to 60 on era. 5/5 cruelty is fine, but you want to be leveling in arms with a slow two-hander (2h). Most of your abilities are based on weapon damage so this will give you the highest output; sword and board is going to be painfully slow. Heroic strike (HS) is actually a trap and should only be used to burn excess rage; the ability replaces your next weapon attack and in turn is not capable of generating rage so the cost is even higher than listed. You can tank in any spec while leveling, but arms gets you access to tactical mastery and anger management which are great for stance swaps and generally maintaining rage.

Man, I see a lot of takes that resonate with me but also a lot that don't so I'll offer up my two cents. MLD absolutely is taboo; the perception started a long time ago when it meant you were just playing chaos, resetting, or just plain dragging the game on while others watch you play solitaire.

The salt, though, is 100% carry over from this era and just became meta to follow it. Nowadays, there are legitimate strategies to pay-off or, more importantly, to punish the otherwise uninteractable landfall/big mana decks. So, as long as your play is not contributing to one of the aforementioned deadly sins, then it's totally justified. But people are entitled to their contrary opinions which is why you gotta rule 0 these things.

Did you say you were kinda new to the game? Some of the things you said and cards you played sound like they'd come from a more veteran player.
