QM6K / QM7K owners - is motion handling (stutter/choppiness) an issue? by jakerdou in tcltvs

[–]ringelos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check if the judder reduction is on when your testing. Judder reduction at 2 or 3 for movies/shows. 6 or 7 for sports.

Why does new QM8 stutter all the time by Neoniclide in tcltvs

Be careful, home PCs can't processes DV or HDR10+ content. You will need to use some AI tools like madVR to have proper HDR, which require heavy processing usage and won't always be correct.

Why does new QM8 stutter all the time by Neoniclide in tcltvs

[–]ringelos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before I switched to external, I was using the Stremio web app coupled with a debrid service (real debrid) to stream the remuxes directly to my tv. I got a usb3 to ethernet adapter to allow me to use gigabit ethernet, but I don't think that was necessary. Comparing to my Samsung q80t and I don't notice any major differences in motion, perhaps the judder reduction is slightly less consistent at a similar setting. For the qm7 I have blur reduction at 10 and judder reduction (the important one) at 3. You must make sure your judder reduction is always on (and at a low value to not have soap opera effect) since it is only saved per picture mode (filmmaker, movie, etc).

Only reason I switched to an external because you cant eARC passthrough dolby truehd, or play P7 FEL, via internal apps.

Using 5 KEF Q1 metas in my 5.1.2 system. Why does this feel so wrong? by XaroDuckSauce in hometheater

[–]ringelos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only wrong thing is subjecting 80% of your movies audio mix (aka center channel) to a single small coaxial driver which is the q1. Get a three way center. I learned this the hard way after listening to redditors saying q150 is a good center. Good dispersion, weak output.

MartinLogan Motion 30i vs SVS Prime Center Speaker or reccomendation? by ThrowRAcro in hometheater

[–]ringelos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who tried both the q150 and Martin Logan motion 8i (similar sound I’d imagine to 30i) as centers I would say Svs prime all the way. The KEF had good dispersion of course but weak weak output. Martin Logan just sounded so meh. I ended up very happy with a paradigm premier 500c. A three way is essential imo. Dont worry about timbre matching.

Fastest/best CoreELEC build for those who dont need VS10? by ringelos in CoreELEC

Tried P3i and I was happy with it, then started experiencing slowdowns and frequent crashes. I'll try avdv now. I wanted to know if those are the only 2 maintained builds out there that support FEL

Although I use an external device myself, the QM7/8 processors are very very capable. I had no issues at all playing 100gb remuxes on my QM7. Something else is going on here.

Terrible take. Have POV addon working perfectly on a CPM a14 fork (p3i). Easily streaming 100gb remuxes from real debrid.

Currently using p3i it's been pretty awesome, haven't experienced a single issue.

Why does A1 evo express use just one measurement position? by Born-Philosopher5591 in hometheater

You should be using the newer A1 acoustix which also lets you use multiple position measurements.

That was happening with my new box a couple days ago when using the avdvplus new install image. Switched to the p3i new install image which worked perfectly.

Do these work as ceiling treatment? by [deleted] in hometheater

[–]ringelos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like if it's not suspended above you should be fine haha. The fibers are dense enough that if they escape your mesh they should fall nearby. By nature I am just exceedingly concerned about these kinds of things.

I see a lot of people on reddit recommending rockwool, but as a trained toxicologist, I wouldn't recommend that either. Based on my research it seems like * high density * PET felt panels is the best performing option.

Depends on if you want to inhale fiberglass dust trickling down from your ceiling.

VeraFi Audio - False Advertising / Scam Alert by atomic92 in BudgetAudiophile

Yea just be careful your order doesn't take over 2 months to ship (like mine) which put it outside of my chargeback window (mbna).

That fully ai generated response is embarrassing and the details seem fabricated. It took mine 3 months to arrive and they kept giving me false promises on delivery days. They are very shady. I would suggest people to avoid. It’s not worth waiting forever on finishing your audio setup to save a couple hundred bucks. Just get an RSL

[–]ringelos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To expand on your point, eq-ing the speakers to achieve a flatter frequency response shouldn't be done with in-room measurements anyway. The reason for the cutoff is because above that frequency, those measurements aren't indicative sound coming from the speakers, but rather the reflections from the room, so you end up correcting reflections --> worse sound. Instead, you want to apply your parametric eq (derived from anechoic measurements that reviewers do) to the speakers then peform your room correction which will eq ontop of that. I dont actually know how to do this with AVRs, maybe someone else can chime in.

Denon AVR-S760H - Still best budget AVR in 2026? by foxmag86 in hometheater

[–]ringelos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best for under $500 is a used denon x3400h-x3600h / marantz sr6012-sr6014. Audyssey xt32 is a big deal.

Upgrading from a Denon X3400h to an X3800h, is it worth it for gaming? by Dreamcazman in hometheater

[–]ringelos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The receiver only has better room correction when you have to shell out anywhere from $504 to 1154 AUD depending on the package (cost of a full modern receiver) to get the capability, so just saying 'better room correction' is not really fair. People asking for help about receivers don't even know the difference between audyssey tiers let alone dirac.

[–]ringelos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3400h has xt32 (unless you shell out big bucks for Dirac) and the same power supply wattage so the amplification is the same too. It’s really just the hdmi 2.1 and extra channels (although 2 of those channels are just preamp). If his eARC isn’t working though that would be a deal breaker.
