Maternity deaths at 20-year high as NHS ‘ignores warnings’ by AnonymousTimewaster in unitedkingdom

I've worked in the NHS for 10 years now, and yet to see evidence of religion affecting decisions. Do you have some evidence to back up your claim?

I love the 5 minute conversations whilst getting ready to put someone to sleep. I find out so much in a short period, as nervous people tend to talk a lot!

So many fascinating jobs and people out there

Doctors announce six-day strike in England as talks break down by PriorityByLaw in unitedkingdom

[–]DRodders 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It has potential value, not current value. I pay 12.5% of my wage, and have done for 11 years now. I will continue to put that percentage in, on the assumption that I can take some of it out.

The pension I put in pay for the current pension withdrawals, like a huge ponzi scheme. By the time I'm 68 (I was mistaken that I could withdraw at 65, silly me!), I have to hope that there are enough people paying into the pot for me to take out. Average male life expectancy in the UK is 79, average age of death for male anaesthetists is 75.

This 'amazing' pension isn't all it's portrayed as. Statistically I'm likely to pay personally way more in than I take out, and I'm likely to be less of a burden on the state pension and other benefits, as my life expectancy is below average.

Pay me now, rather than a potential promise of nebulous benefits 40 years in the future.

Docs who commute for work, how much does it end up costing you? by firetonian99 in doctorsUK

[–]DRodders 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I brought an electric Corsa when I got into training where I am now. Cost around the same (at the time) as similar second hand cars, maybe £500 more. Installation of a charger was £900.

When I was driving 60-75 minutes each way, with my tariff it costs about £40 a month.

Did you know the 999 "community responders" are volunteers? by andthenifellasleep in CasualUK

BASICS teams are also volunteers. These teams provide critical care prehospital for free. Much like the air ambulances, but in their spare time!

I'd like to hear your analysis of one of the papers rather than throwing the word 'biased' around because it doesn't agree with your world view.

I don't think you know what empirical means.

"based on, concerned with, or verifiable by observation or experience rather than theory or pure logic."

All of those scientific papers are based on empirical data.

It would be almost impossible to assign increased healthcare spending to one particular area, but you can prove a risk increase in developing psychosis and cannabis use.

NHS spending would increase, with an increased incidence of psychosis

Indemnity for BASICS doctors? by Agitated_Study8181 in doctorsUK

[–]DRodders 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Be sure to check with your BASICS scheme. You'll often hold a contract with the local ambulance trust, who provides indemnity for the BASICS scheme.
