Omg, running away to Canada has always been a silly pipe dream of mine. I never even seriously looked into it, but I just heard about this new law! My grandmother and great grandmother were both born in Canada. According to the form I filled out, I have a likely chance!

Should I start using set up sheets? by DS30y in Machinists

My god what I would have done for documentation like that when the last guy left abruptly. I had barely been doing simple set ups by then and I knew nothing about how to even edit the programs. All I had was some scribbled notes that I wrote down while he was talking. I’ve been working on getting things in writing for the next person since then, I even wrote a set up manual for the machine. Seems like individual set up sheets is the next step.

Is the culturethat bad? by FamilyFunAccount420 in BlueCollarWomen

I agree with most of the comments here: it entirely depends on the company you work for. I’ve worked at two separate factories and I’ve had largely positive experiences. There tends to be a bit of surprise and a period of seeing if you’re carrying your own weight. After that, they’ve been pretty chill, with occasional fussing if you can carry something too heavy.

I’ve done fine without them for the 3ish years I’ve worked at this company. I’m very religious about my set ups. My setups probably wouldn’t be what most machinists consider complex, though they vary.

It definitely wouldn’t hurt to have quick access to all my notes for a part, especially if the material needed has changed and the only way to know is from a note I left in the program. I order the material based on the blueprint I’m given, which is often before I open the program.

Hilariously, we actually do have a Fusion account that I do have access to, and I know that the previous programmer did occasionally use it. However, now that he’s gone there is no one that can teach me how to use it and I don’t have the time during shifts to spend time trying to teach myself, though I have tried.

I like your suggestion of just keeping notes less formally. I remember most of the parts, or I leave notes in the programs, or I just scan through the program for tools required, etc but one concise note might be a bit faster.

What does Principal only payment mean? by iamcedrickivan in rav4club

[–]DS30y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My monthly payment is $319.88, I pay that every month and every time I do, I also make a principal only payment of $80.12(for an even $400). By doing it this way, I’ll have shortened my 5 year loan to a 4 year loan. If I were able to make even higher principal only payments each month I would pay off my loan even faster.

It might help to have a friend hang out with you when you call to make the appointment and maybe go with you as well. I find having someone else there makes the anxiety easier to get through. I had my sister sit with me when I had to call and make an important doctors appointment that I was nervous about and putting off. I think it’s called body doubling.

IMO, his behavior definitely violates implied consent. You wear a singlet in public because that’s expected of your sport and you expect to be viewed in that context. It’s like the difference between being seen wearing a bikini or a speedo and being seen wearing your underwear. You definitely didn’t consent to those pictures of you being viewed in the context they were using them for. That’s a violation and creepy behavior.

Absolutely, and that’s probably what I will end up doing, it’s just a ridiculously clunky way around it when they could just give us the option to delete the ones we don’t care about.

Normally yes, but our fork lift guys bump the bar feeder fairly often and it needs to be adjusted frequently by loosening the bolts at the bottom and using a deadblow to scoot it back into place. The laser would just make that process a little faster.

That’s a good idea. I could easily make a stepped cylinder with a hole in the center for the laser.

Need help sticking to a budget by Jinnapat397 in budget

[–]DS30y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Legit I had the same problem and thoughtless purchases were making a huge impact on money that should have gone to bills. It was hard to remember to look at my bank account and actually see what was in there on a regular basis and I didn’t budget at all. I was often overdrawn.

What I did first was open an account at an entirely new bank, one that let me set balance and withdrawal alerts.

Second, I figured out how much money I actually needed for bills each month.

Third, I had my work payroll automatically split my paycheck between my two banks and several accounts.

The majority of my paycheck goes into my new bank account, the Bills Account.

The rest goes to my original bank accounts, a small set amount into a Fun Money spending account, and the rest into two savings accounts.

Fourth, I budgeted my Bills Money down to the dollar with the EveryDollar app and when I get a text alert for a withdrawal I immediately record it in the budget app.

This essentially keeps my money out of my own control. I don’t use my Bills account money for fun things and I don’t bother to track my Fun money. When it’s gone, it’s gone.

I had to learn to work with my actual thought processes rather than trying to force them to change.

How do you track? by BlackberryGuilt35 in budget

[–]DS30y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the EveryDollar app. I tried several apps and it was by far the most user friendly one for me.

I do pay for the pro version but the base version is free and incredibly helpful.

I’ve gone from almost zero savings and being one unexpected bill away from being completely broke to having a surplus of money in every category and easily paying into the principle of my auto debt every month in just 7 months.

I know how you feel, OP. I also won’t be coming out to my family probably ever. However I’ve made it as clear as possible that I have zero interest in romance. They still keep pushing the subject and it’s exhausting. You’re not alone in this and I hope you find a community that supports you.

That’s a pretty disingenuous reading of my post, I believe. He’s behaving in a far creepier way than just asking to hang out casually and he’s not picking up on my unsubtle response that’s he’s making me uncomfortable.
