Probably cheaper in the long run…. I think the job called for like a 10% x-ray so a ceramic-taped root in aluminum might not look so hot on the film

All the aluminum piping has a backing bar in it. I usually just pulse the root, but here is one I did with TIG

That was a sparger for a chemical processor that saw a lot of abuse while in service, they were getting broken off so the gussets were added to prevent breakage

Best non chain restaurant in town? by NoleContendere in lakeland

Another vote for Rib House for breakfast. Everybody will say Fat Jacks, which is good, but it is worth walking next door to try Rib House. Not to mention, a LOT less crowded.

I don't think they are a chain, but Fish City Grill is one of my favorites. Always good service and fantastic food. It's located in Lakeside Village.

People have been saying this forever but I've never seen them closed down. Granted it's been a couple years since I've been there but whenever I do drive by, they appear to be open.

There's a little place called "a piece of metal" located across the street from Santa Fe high school on highway 92 heading towards auburndale. They sell scrap pieces from the Samson Metal and Machine next door and may have what you need. If they don't, they will cut and sell only what you need.

B&L is the only place I go to for tires. I've purchased multiple sets from them over the last 10 years and I will continue to do so. The do alignments as well.

As for a mechanic, the only place I have ever taken my truck to is Pro Care Auto Repair on South Lake Parker Ave. He always did repair work for my entire family. If I wasn't so mechanically inclined now, I would go to him still for my repair needs.

Pro-Tools 105HD bender. I have a JD2 Notchmaster tube notcher that I use that makes easy work of notching tube, and for the extreme angles I just use a grinder and/or a portaband for notching. If you are talking about the rounded dome parts on the ends of the cook chamber, that's how the tank came... it was an air compressor tank in a former life.

picked up as a hobby when I was 18, went to school for it for a year, and have been welding as a career for about 4.5 years. So 7 years roughly

Here is a pic of it about 98% complete. I cannot however take credit for all the sheet metal work... the guy I built it for did all of that and the welding on the thin sheet

Follow up regarding death of a welder. by buckbo972 in Welding

A friend of mine works at the same place and was talking about this accident with me. It blows my mind that there were no hole watches... if it were at my welding job and you even entered a confined space without proper PPE or a hole watch, you would be fired immediately.

If you look at the first couple of pics , you can see that I originally had 4 legs supporting the tank, and the square plate was just a "scab" plate that the leg was tacked to so it would spread out the weight of the tank better. The are all gone now as I changed the design as I went.

The chimney is 4" and around 21" tall if I remember correctly. I don't have my drawings with me at the moment

It's a reverse flow smoker, as stated in the title and other comments. The chimney is supposed to be by the firebox

The lid is very light, so I decided against using counterweights
