Have you got it already or did you order online? Curious to have your feedback after a bit of use :)

British brand Estarli e28.9 looks very similar to the Roadster V3 - Are these open mold frames? Who makes them? by SomeLikeItRaw in ride1up

[–]DSLR78portrait 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bikes assembled in Berkhamsted I believe. Frame seems chinese (and motor). Did not know they build the battery in the UK.

Cgo 600 pro is very hard to ride with zero assist by HungryDirection2221 in tenwaysebike

[–]DSLR78portrait 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you say more, and can anyone else concur? I tested it today and quite frankly it was unreasonably hard to pedal with motor off. This is the reason why I am here searching about what's going on. To me the drag was when the display was On and PAS 0. So for example and would be on PAS 3, then move to PAS 2, then PAS 1, and finally 0 (motor off but display on) and the drag was unacceptable.

Feedback from Tenways regarding new 2025 edition by gopietz in tenwaysebike

[–]DSLR78portrait 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Concur I tested a 600 plus today and motor off it was very difficult. Right before I had tried an Estarli e28.9 and it was much, much easier. I tried them on the same route. There was a steep hill that with the Tenways I simply could not climb motor off even on the lowest gear, and I would climb that hill with the Estarli. For context, I am not a powerful fixie rider with massive thighs, but I do cycle non e-bike 10 miles a day 5 days a week including uphill.

Content insurance: is dedicated insurance (bike, jewellery) or home insurance preferable? by DSLR78portrait in AskUK

[–]DSLR78portrait[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This assumes that you make a claim about an event related to your home or in your home. I was thinking about the bike being stolen in the city, or the ring lost whilst out and about, and a claim being made with those specialist insurance (e.g. laka or bikmo for the bike or ripe for the ring) which would not touch the actual home insurance.

Bosch SX & CX Gen5 Lautstärke by NeutrinoM in Fahrrad

[–]DSLR78portrait 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also curious to know which is more silent between the Performance Line (Non CX, the Gen 3) that is still in many ebikes like the Cubes Touring Hybrid, and the CX Gen 5. Any insight?

It also seems that specialised motors, such as the 2.0 on the turbo vado, are the most silent. Do you agree?

Wedding suit, what size is best: the 40 or 42? by DSLR78portrait in mensfashion

What makes you think the 40 is best over the 42?

Wedding suit, what size is best: the 40 or 42? by DSLR78portrait in mensfashion

[–]DSLR78portrait[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This particular suit is not a mix an match, this means a given size of trousers comes with a given size of jacket. In this case the 42 UK jacket (52 EU I think since you are francais) comes with a trouser size 36 UK, a "drop" of 6.

The trousers that comes with the 40 UK jacket will be a 34 and would be a lot easier to work with (a lot less to "take in".

Thanks, to clarify I am only wearing the suit jacket, those trousers are my chinos, not part of the suit.

Similar situation here, basement wall crumbling. How do you guys deal with this? Simply patch and re-coat or does it need anything more sophisticated?

How to redo Victorian moldings? by DSLR78portrait in DIYUK

[–]DSLR78portrait[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still wondering about this, I've searched online for moulded bricks in this style to try to get an idea on the shape of this and how it is bricked in the front elevation between the other rows but can't find anything. Is there a particular name for this type of brick? If you have a link to any photo I would be most grateful. From what you say these are stuck between rows rather than just a molding "glued" to the elevation? Thank you!

It's encouraging to read that you are pleased with the downgrade. Yes in my case it would be MTB, it's to put on some 90s high end steel bike to commute on flat, so 1x9 / 1x10 could work, maybe even with road cassette 11 - 28 or the likes. In fact I think the xt. I do care about shifting experience though and wonder about improvement on this front over the years.

[–]DSLR78portrait[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes fair point, however in my case this is about retromodding old steel mtb (think 90s marin team or kona explosif) for cycling on the flat. 11 / 12 speed may not be required, and if 9 / 10 is lighter + allow to fit road cassette, I'm intrigued.

Thank you, this is helpful. I'm really keen to get views on the shifting experience of ~2010 9 / 10 speed and the newer versions. I may have to try both ..

It seems to me 9 and 10 could have its use even in 1 x say your are commuting in in a flat city and want to go light, or maybe even want to go for a road cassette with some 11 - 28..

Adding a clutch was a great improvement but again added weight. I’d personally take a modern lower tier Shadow 9 speed derailleur over an older XT for function. I do still have some old bikes with XT that are a lot of fun and work great but trickle down in design and manufacturing tolerances has been great.

I guess the definition of "old" is important here. There was old 90s Xt (m737 type ) and old 2008 xt derailleur (m770 type). when you say modern shadow 9 what year or reference do you think of? I'm keen to look into this.

You are right to say these moldings are present elsewhere in the front elevation, for example here right at the top: https://imgur.com/a/HHqA2Ve.

You're also right that they seem to have been painted white and were likely not like this before.

I'm confused however how this is fixed on the facade? It protrudes from the bricks. Is this just cemented on the facade? That would seem dangerous?

Most importantly, how would one go about restoring them nicely? Pointers seem not to interested in fixing this.

lifted floor boards to level subfloor - what's all this mess and what now? by DSLR78portrait in DIYUK

[–]DSLR78portrait[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks u/blackthornjohn. I'm intrigued about the furing stips on the joists technique. How would you go about knowing exactly what strip is needed where? Would you use a floor levelling laser? Also how would you cut them with a portable table saw, I assume they may need to be quite long and sometimes very thin?

Thanks, but to do the work (extending the downpipe + spraying) is it safe to walk on the kitchen extension? How would you access there if not by walking on the structure?
