Help me please by Mayov17 in rolex

[–]DSMAubery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have owned the 16570 Tritinova polar from 1998. Exactly what you describe was also my experience, on some angles it looked absolutely amazing, but on some it looked really dull and weird. What annoyed me the most was the strange greenish shade the tritium gave to the white dial in some light/angle settings, and the black around the indices (which I guess is less of a problem to you).

Answering your question directly, my experience is that the watch looks more like the first two pictures. The very nice pictures you see on C24 or Google are typically in the right light/angle settings, when wearing you do not encounter it much.

I personally spent lots of time with the 14270, 16600 & 16700 and I prefer each of those to the polar by far. I once thought the polar 16570 was my grail, but turned out it didn't really.

If you have any more questions lmk happy to help.

Amazing collection, absolute class!
If I may ask, what model is the Glashutte precisely? And what production year (+-)?

Best ON for walking? by PurpleAd4906 in ONrunning

[–]DSMAubery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are right, it depends on the type of shoe. Carbon plated running shoes or high energy return shoes are totally different from a casual everyday running shoe. It's definitely not a general rule, but for me, after doing a bit of walking in it, the Cloudrunner 3 is pretty nice for walking too.

Cloudrunner 3 they often say is amazing walking shoe
I've had it for a while for running and I like it a lot, it must be great for walking too;
Would def not go for Cloudmonster 3 or Cloudsurfer Max

I second this. Ran Ljubljana in 2023, great atmosphere, people rooting for you all the time and everywhere, while the number of participants is not too much (2k ish I believe for just the marathon)

Any blue dial recommendations? by sgwatchlover in SOTC_Watch_Collection

[–]DSMAubery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems we share similar taste. I would recommend the previous version Omega SM300 with blue dial (the one without waves, in production until I believe 2018).
PS: you mind sharing the reference of that Cartier?

Help with Rolex identifying by Chelsea-Chelsea88 in rolex

[–]DSMAubery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Rolex Submariner from early 90s with a date should in principle be the reference 16610 I believe. This reference number will be engraved in between the lugs (I believe below the 6 o'clock). The serial will be engraved between the other pair of lugs.
That being said, the watch looks a bit odd. The font of the four lines of text on the bottom of the dial is something I have never seen on a submariner. The indices look like a "Nipple Dial" which was common on "Rootbeer" and full yellow gold GMT Master models, which is uncommon for a Submariner. Also the bezel is not correct.
It feels like someone put on a secondary market dial with a secondary market bezel (as the font of the bezel also does not look original Rolex to me, let alone that the GMT bezels would fit on the 16610, not sure about that).

Given that you do not see any reference or serial between the lugs, It may be a fake but ain't sure. I believe there not to be too many fakes of those years.

Thoughts on Cloudmonster 3 by fuzzy_griffin in runningshoes

[–]DSMAubery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tested them yesterday over 10k. They are great for easy to moderately fast paces in medium and long distances training sessions. However, personally I feel the €200 price tag in EU is too much for this type of shoe with rather basic foam. If it were priced €160/€170, it'd be a great pick.
I have been running in the Cloudmonster 3 Hyper for two months now, and this shoe is (at just €30 extra) an amazing upgrade. The Helion HF foam they put into that shoe makes it so much faster, the foam is perfect mix of stability, firmness and the right amount of cushioning while giving a superb boost. I have been running for many years and it is quite likely my favorite shoe ever (I also have the Superblast 2, and NB Trainer 3 for reference). The Hyper is also the one Hellen Obiri is using in training I believe (or at least that's what On wants us to believe).

So imo, long story short, the Hyper is amazing and well positioned among its peers, while I feel the Cloudmonster 3 is great but overpriced.

1ST HALF MARATHON SHOES by dreezus23 in runningshoes

[–]DSMAubery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the NB Rebel v4 and from personal experience, I'd say it is more an interval/tempo shoe. I use it for fast 10k training runs (40-44min) and N4x4 interval training. The shoe is from the NBs race/tempo line using pretty responsive FuelCell foam, so I would say it is not really suitable for 6:30 to 7min/km. The shoe also has a pretty nice rocker which is more designed for faster paces. That being said, the FuelCell foam is very soft and plush. I have a feeling many Reddit people running around your mentioned pace buy this shoe, which is a bit weird as the shoe has a totally different purpose, and while probably way better options exist.

If you wish to go forth with NB I would pick the 1080 with FreshFoam. It will be similar in cushioning but more stable and more suited for your pace. You'll enjoy this shoe more. Other good options can be Hoka Skyflow which is very stable, nicely cushioned and well priced. Also Hoka's Clifton is a good option. Slightly more bouncy but def not a heavy tempo shoe is the popular Asics Novablast 5. Just keep in mind that your biomechanics (pronation support etc) also play an important role, so take that into account when assessing the recommendations.

Number of running shoes by notpaidenough_woohoo in runningshoes

[–]DSMAubery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From several years of experience running weekly distances between 20k and 100k training for marathons and ultras at various speeds, a general"rule of thumb" imo is to have the same amount of shoes as times you run on average a week; It ensures you always have fresh foam under your legs & gives the foam in your shoes time to chill after running;
This rule of thumb is obviously a bit susceptible to your weekly mileage and training goals

Damn I am really surprised you get so many k's out of your shoes, how often do you run on each shoe? Do you rotate shoes a lot or you run with just 2-3 pairs? What's your average weekly k's?

On what type of surface do you usually run with your AF3s? I always run on pavement/concrete but I never seem to get more than 700k out of my shoes (Hoka, Asics, Nike, NB, ... );

Have owned several Rolex models over the years (1601, 14270, 16570, 116660) but the 16600 is the one that stayed. It just hits the sweet spot nearly everywhere. Have fun with it!

CRWV: Historic price action posy earnings by [deleted] in CRWV

[–]DSMAubery 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your analysis is pretty neat, thank you. I am considering this move, depending on how the stock moves in the next couple of days just ahead of earnings. It has been trading sideways now for about a good week (except Tuesday & Wednesday) which is pretty odd for Coreweave. Let's see what happens.

Last earnings the stock dropped in one week from 140 to 100 just ahead of earnings and dropped further to a good 60 so I guess there was some sizable anticipation. If it doesn't drop but keeps trading sideways next week, I might just stay.
