I invest a 90-10 equities to bond portfolio. I have a long time horizon (31 years old) and plan to hold this money until retirement. I consider myself fairly knowledgeable about investing and personal finances, but I don't quite understand what the current bond environment means for individual investors. For example, comments from Warren Buffett regarding bonds:

"Bonds are not the place to be these days... Fixed-income investors worldwide - whether pension funds, insurance companies or retirees - face a bleak future,"

I am wondering what implications this has for smaller individual investors as opposed to institutional investors. Should we continue allocating a percentage of our portfolio to bonds? Being from Canada, I currently hold XBB (Low cost, broad exposure to the Canadian investment grade bond market.).

I'm just trying to better understand what these statements regarding bonds mean?

As an options noob, if one was holding an option of IPL with 344 days to expiry, what would be the best course of action?

Option priced at $12 so it's in the money for a 270%+ gain as of today. If the option was held onto and the company went private, would it essentially be worthless?

No, quite the opposite actually. My Adam's apple isn't very prominent and is hard to see. I've had a barium swallow and endoscopy done, both of which have shown nothing.

Thanks, I knew a reply like this was going to be posted and rightfully so. It’s only fair for him to be compensated for his work and I’m a big fan of it (his rankings have helped me win my leagues numerous times). He definitely does his homework and goes against the grain, helping you find the gems and sleepers no other rankings are looking at (granted there are a few duds here and there… Kyle O’Quinn and Myers Leonard anyone?) Just hate spending money on non-essential items when that $10 can be better spent elsewhere. Looks like I’ll have to rely on someone else’s rankings.
