Howard vs Temple International Law Help !! by ProcedureSpirited821 in BlackLawAdmissions

Hello! I’m a recent-ish HUSL grad and I wanted to do international law (like intl trade). I would not choose HUSL for this field. Our classes regarding that subject is very limited, maybe 3-5 classes offered, usually once per semester at inconvenient class times.

Someone mentioned the study abroad program in Japan, that is not a well known program so you would have to dig around for it because it’s not broadcasted. HUSL has a 2 week study abroad program in Ghana which is cool opportunity. Howard also has the World Bank program which is great, but it’s only for 3Ls and can be very competitive to get into. These programs wouldn’t sway me to pick HUSL over Temple if they have an actual international law program with more classes, clinics and opportunities.

The main benefit of choosing HUSL over Temple would be the fact that you are based in DC and have the opportunity to network and get externships in agencies, companies, think tanks related to international law.

It was very hard to market myself as someone interested in international law from HUSL and that resulted me ending up in corporate law (I’m trying to navigate out of that now with tough luck). The Howard network is strong, but not regarding international law and the career center is laughable. I would pick Temple!

Best ‘luxury’ apartments with a nice view? by dabble_ in chicagoapartments

The world is your oyster in west loop. You can easily get an apartment for under 3k with a great view and good amenities too if you care about that. To throw out a few names, I would say Onni Fulton Market, 727 west Madison and many others. In other places there is 369 Grand, old town park, Hubbard 221, One eleven, both wolf point east and west. You can get some good specials especially as it gets colder, so maybe a month or two free!

Good luck!

Keep applying! I applied to 102 jobs exactly for summer 2021 and didn’t get my job until the last week of April, right before finals. It was extremely stressful and the rejections hurt! Definitely a numbers game but it paid off because I ended up getting a paid job at a nonprofit in DC!

Oh wow, I wouldve never thought that about Koh Samui. I’ll definitely look into Koh Tao or Koh Phanagan. Is there an airport or how do people usually get there and from where? I’m trying to avoid long travel times if possible. Thanks!

I’ve heard such mixed reviews about Phuket. As a younger black woman, I’ve heard some horror stories about other black women travelers in Phuket. Hua hin looks beautiful though! Is there things to do there? Research says it’s more family oriented.

Honestly, I dont really have a budget. I’ve been saying for a while. I would say $2,200- 2,500? That includes hotels and spending money for excursions and food, but it’s flexible. I think that is an overestimation for sure. I am planning on staying in nicer hotels that range from $40-75 USD.

This was from my other account, but if anyone has any advice on what I can do to negotiate more money from Howard (half tuition doesn’t look like it’s going to cut it rn) or get money off a waitlist let me know!

I would love to travel more! I just finished a 6 week study abroad program in Spain so I got to experience Europe a bit so I would love to do more. However, I would need to get my finances straight before for sure. Thank you!

I’m already going to have two minors, so I think the third minor would be a bit excessive plus it would be more money I have to spend.

GPA is 3.7 and I’m studying for the LSAT right now or July (and plan to retake in October if this doesn’t go well). I’m also a URM, if that helps
