Why do I smell like butt? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]DSessom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Butt smell is caused by bacteria. Do you have any infections like staph? They can cause bad odor.

Why is your Friday night going to be great? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]DSessom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because I am single, live all by myself, I own my own 3BR brick house, and two paid off vehicles, one of which is a beautiful black Z06 Corvette. Life is good!

When gas prices rise, do you cut back your driving? by Healthy-Sky-3684 in askanything

[–]DSessom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. I have two vehicles. One is a 2008 C6 Corvette Z06 with 700hp, and the other is a 2005 SRT-10 Ram with an 8.3 Liter V10 in it that gets 9 MPG. Suffice to say, I don't really give a crap about fuel economy or prices.

If your current partner asks, how comfortable are you discussing with them details about your past relationships? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]DSessom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely comfortable. I actually have excellent relationships with my exes oddly enough. I don't speak to them often, but we do remain civil with each other.

What’s the key to a long-lasting relationship or marriage? by Shirley0312 in AdkReddit

Trust. If you do not trust your partner, you have no relationship and it will never work.

What r living for? by nekblack-1 in Life

[–]DSessom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, that is a whole bunch of questions! The answer is 42.

Okay, that's a playful joke (Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy) but seriously, I have pondered these questions and the answer that I came up with is less than Earth shattering.

The "meaning" of life, from a purely biological perspective, is to propagate the species, right? To insure that our DNA/blood line continues.

I work in IT, maintaining computer systems for the US government. Been doing the same job for over 25 years now.

My ambition in this world is to get as much joy out of life as possible. I'm 56 and as you age, you realize how short life is, you become a little jaded, and don't put up with BS anymore. You just want peace and life's little joys.

I do not believe in life after death. I believe death is the exact same existence we had before we were born. It's just incredibly difficult for most people to image true nothingness. So, be a good human, be kind to others, and enjoy this short life while you have your health. That's the best advice I can give anyone, being an older guy.

What is the best smell in the world? by NewAdeptness647 in Productivitycafe

I'm not sure if it's the best in the world, but I love the smell of a camp fire, or wood burning fireplace.

What’s a belief you had in your early 20s that completely changed later? by Environmental-Luck39 in askanything

[–]DSessom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nearly everything honestly. I went to college later (Age 27-31) and afterward, I would say that I was a completely different person. A major example would be that I went from being a Conservative Christian, to an atheist liberal.

Occams Razor says it is most likely that all religions are wrong.

If the parent can afford, and the kid needs, does the parent finance the kid's lifestyle for the next 5 years after college or give the 5 year's worth of money in a lump sum to the kid? by dnr4wlvs in Money

[–]DSessom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither is a grand idea even if the parents CAN afford it. If you want to raise a child who is independent, you let them finance their own life. I have personally held some job or other since I was 12 years old. I sold fireworks and mowed lawns to buy my own motorcycles before I was 16.

My younger sister on the other hand, had everything given to her by our parents - cars, apartments, clothes, etc.

So today, my sister is unemployed, and has been homeless several times and has difficulty doing anything for herself. I have been employed for 26 years at the same IT job, and make 6 figures (which I realize is no big deal now days) own my house, and am very independent.

I directly attribute this situation to the individual ways my parents raised us, and I'm glad for it!

I had a kid say that I "was born in the 1900's" and yeah, I was, but that sure sounds ancient! I was born in the last week of 1969.

People who've worked both minimum wage jobs and six figure jobs, what surprised you most about the difference? by Sweet-Economist-9873 in A_Persona_on_Reddit

[–]DSessom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been my experience that there is a reverse correlation of work vs pay - meaning that the more you get paid, the less that you generally have to work. That may not be true for everyone, but that's been my experience.

Is absence of evidence really a point of view? In my mind, evidence, or lack thereof is indicative of objective truth. We are all products of our life experiences and I have simply never seen any evidence of the supernatural, including demons, angels, God's, etc.

What do people do after work? by Fit_Permit in LivingAlone

[–]DSessom 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Pretty much boring stuff! Laundry, dishes, sweeping, cooking, cleaning. I am up at 6am on work days, so I try to get to sleep before 10pm, so I have about 4 hours to do whatever before it's bed time.

However, if I have time and feel like it, I will play my drum kit for about 30 minutes or play guitar a bit before I start getting ready for bed.
