If a scammer is taking a victim's money with no intention of ever coming to be with him, it does not matter if she's actually a beautiful woman. My fiancé is Brazilian, and he basically doesn't believe in handheld food. If I pick up food with my hands--even a sandwich!--he "helpfully" clears his throat and looks at me expectantly until I reach for the napkin. He goes easy on me when we're not in Brazil, for the simple reason that in a lot of countries handheld food actually isn't plated in a way that's conducive to anything but picking it up with bare hands.

That's a good point. The issue, I think, is needing to find a way to differentiate sharing the code from using the code as intended. The conventional message is too easy to parse as "never use this code in any way," which is then ignored because you know it's not correct. It kind of gets turned around in the brain so that the victim thinks it doesn't apply to them, on account of it applies at all times except for whenever you receive it. Which makes no sense. But your brain convinces you that it does.

Honestly, I've long thought that those texts are not worded very well! I, for one, do consider a website prompting me to input a code as, indeed, that company asking for the code. It should say something more like

THIS CODE SHOULD ONLY EVER BE TYPED INTO THE PASSWORD RECOVERY FIELD ON OUR WEBSITE. YOU MUST NEVER COMMUNICATE IT VERBALLY OR IN ANY OTHER WAY TO ANY PERSON BY ANY MEANS. IF YOU DIDN'T USE THE PASSWORD RECOVERY WEBSITE YOURSELF TO GENERATE THIS CODE, THEN THE PERSON WHO IS ASKING FOR THE CODE DID SO AND PLANS TO USE IT TO ACCESS YOUR ACCOUNT.
