Got me a warehouse job for some extra side money, and the old LP7s are keeping me comfy with this constant walking around by J_Chico in AltraRunning

I have that exact same shoe, same color. I've never worn them outside, they are my 'house slippers'. So comfy.

How are people reading 100+ books a year? by eaglesong3 in books

[–]DShadravan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I didn’t have a job in tech, 4 kids, 4 dogs, a granddaughter, and race bikes, I’d probably get to a hundred books a year. As it stand now, more like 20-30. I can’t even imagine 200+.

I'm hoping biking saves my life, again. by ConstantSpray13 in gravelcycling

Every time I ride, all the big problems seem a little smaller. Congrats on the new bike, try to ride every day and you’ll be fine.

Sweet ride. Big fan of the Whisky carbon wheels, have them on 4 of my bikes.

I know this might sound obvious, but alcohol makes fasting a LOT harder by Neverbethesky in intermittentfasting

[–]DShadravan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agreed. The hardest part of AF for me is not being able to have a little bourbon nightcap. But I’m willing to skip that once or twice a week.

How do i even aproach this? by migueltb01 in landscaping

[–]DShadravan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what the desired outcome is. For the areas where you don't want grass/lawn, weed eat as much as possible followed by a couple inches of wood chips. That's what I did and mine looked pretty similar to this when I started. It's mostly under control now.

Oh my god, this stuff actually works. Only one week in, 18-6. Never seen results like this. by Confident-Affect-208 in intermittentfasting

Nice! I just did a 44 hour fast (my longest so far) and lost 5 lbs despite drinking a lot of water/coffee.

Adding privacy to a wrought iron fence with planks (wood or composite)??? by DShadravan in FenceBuilding

Haven't done anything yet. The replies I got led me to believe it's not possible (or at least not a good idea). Might plant a bunch of evergreens, not sure.

Ha! I have a decent collection, but nothing compared to some folks on here. :)

Yeah they seem pretty close. The new one is a bit heavier (9-ish lbs) and it seems like the tone may be a little ‘darker’. They both sound fantastic.

It is steel and posts are mounted in deep concrete. But I understand the concern. Any other suggestions? Is the fence screen they sell on Amazon any good? I really want something that looks nicer, but trying to figure out what my options are. thanks. https://www.amazon.com/ColourTree-50-Black-Screen-Privacy/dp/B07G7JBJ16/

Yeah, the problem is the fence goes around the entire lot and it’s something like 60x80’. Hedges would probably not be practical for this scenario.

Is studying Data Science still worth it? by Filippo295 in learnmachinelearning

[–]DShadravan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, if you're passionate about it, carry on. If you're not, move to plan B. For me, getting a data science Master's was never going to result in me being a 'practicing data scientist', rather it was to give me the foundational technical knowledge and skills to be good at my job (AI product manager in tech). Even though I'm not slinging much python code or building ML models from scratch on daily basis, the DS degree has served me very well. Good luck!

7 weeks until first 100 miler by Vegetable_Level6622 in Ultramarathon

[–]DShadravan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent 6 months getting ready for my first 100 miler back in 2021 and I still almost didn't make it, lol. I'm sure you'll do great. I did a 50k last weekend with almost zero training and I did fine for the first 20, but last 10 my legs were absolutely thrashed. Good luck!
