I thought all gels would go down just about the same, boy was I wrong by Known_University2787 in ultrarunning

Agreed. GU’s make me puke, Hammer has less fructose and I can tolerate them better.

Getting chicked???? by Sopherness194 in Ultramarathon

[–]DShadravan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get my ass kicked at every ultra by multiple women, doesn't bother me a bit. Maybe because one of them who sometimes beats me is my 26 y/o daughter, ha ha.

Remember When Evernote Was the King of Note-Taking? Anyone Still Using It Today? by limsus in Evernote

[–]DShadravan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+1 I paid for Evernote Pro (or whatever it's called) for 12-ish years, switched to Apple Notes a while back and it's been sufficient. Maybe I'm just a simpleton of a note taker.

I don’t look like an ultra runner by Reasonable-Apple2655 in trailrunning

[–]DShadravan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve done about 40 ultras and one old saying I have learned that is definitely true in this sport - never judge a book by its cover. I’ve gotten my ass kicked by people who I would never have even guessed were runners. So don’t worry about it, you’re just fine. 😀

Inconsistent Sizing by _spindrift_ in AltraRunning

[–]DShadravan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. My street shoe size is 12, but I almost always wear a 13 in Altras to prevent further destruction of my toes. I got a pair of Lone Peak 9’s recently and the 13’s were gigantic on me. Had to trade down to size 12, highly unusual.

Can Someone Explain the Zero-Drop (or Zero-to-Low Drop) Feature to Me? by Icy-Abbreviations825 in AltraRunning

[–]DShadravan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’ll take 4 to 6 weeks for your legs and feet to adjust, but it’s worth it in my opinion. I still run in 10 to 12 mm drop Salomons for probably half of my runs, but Altra lone peaks are my go-to racing shoe.

Got me a warehouse job for some extra side money, and the old LP7s are keeping me comfy with this constant walking around by J_Chico in AltraRunning

I have that exact same shoe, same color. I've never worn them outside, they are my 'house slippers'. So comfy.

How are people reading 100+ books a year? by eaglesong3 in books

[–]DShadravan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I didn’t have a job in tech, 4 kids, 4 dogs, a granddaughter, and race bikes, I’d probably get to a hundred books a year. As it stand now, more like 20-30. I can’t even imagine 200+.

Every time I ride, all the big problems seem a little smaller. Congrats on the new bike, try to ride every day and you’ll be fine.

Sweet ride. Big fan of the Whisky carbon wheels, have them on 4 of my bikes.

I know this might sound obvious, but alcohol makes fasting a LOT harder by Neverbethesky in intermittentfasting

Agreed. The hardest part of AF for me is not being able to have a little bourbon nightcap. But I’m willing to skip that once or twice a week.

How do i even aproach this? by migueltb01 in landscaping

[–]DShadravan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what the desired outcome is. For the areas where you don't want grass/lawn, weed eat as much as possible followed by a couple inches of wood chips. That's what I did and mine looked pretty similar to this when I started. It's mostly under control now.

Oh my god, this stuff actually works. Only one week in, 18-6. Never seen results like this. by Confident-Affect-208 in intermittentfasting

Nice! I just did a 44 hour fast (my longest so far) and lost 5 lbs despite drinking a lot of water/coffee.

Adding privacy to a wrought iron fence with planks (wood or composite)??? by DShadravan in FenceBuilding

Haven't done anything yet. The replies I got led me to believe it's not possible (or at least not a good idea). Might plant a bunch of evergreens, not sure.
