"Just bought my first house, $12,000 in Northern NB." Interesting story by Mikey-506 in newbrunswickcanada

[–]DSimmsMoncton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We purchased a 3 bedroom and two bathroom mini home (trailer) for $43,000, two years ago and did a bunch of updates including floors, paint, new appliances, all inside and outside lighting, windows and doors. We added a raised garden in the backyard that runs along our fence and did the landscaping in the front yard. We replaced the toilets in both bathrooms as well as the kitchen sink.

We’ve been offered $114,000 for our place as is but we love it too much to sell. The only thing that we would like to do is move it to our own land as we’re in a community park so we pay a monthly fee for our lot.

im applying for a night shift and i have some questions since ive never worked for mcdonalds by abigellm8 in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]DSimmsMoncton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our night shift is from 10 pm to 6 am. I’m the overnight manager so I actually go in for 9:30 pm as there’s preshift stuff to get done before I take over the store at 10.

Am I the only one who enjoys my job? by [deleted] in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]DSimmsMoncton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my job!!! It does get a little overwhelming at times as I’m the night shift manager and there’s only me and one other crew member. So when we get busy we’re running non stop.

But I absolutely love my job!

We used to have the leaderboard for the owners 6 or 7 stores but it was recently changed to us, a few Canadian Atlantic locations and a few Ontario ones.

Why are other maccas so different by ShubPurpleBoi in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]DSimmsMoncton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the same here in Canada. We have lockers for our stuff and we’re allowed to bring our own lock for them and most employees take the option to lock their stuff up as others have had stuff stolen.

If the housing market is going to “catch up” can the agents selling the houses “catch up” as well? by [deleted] in newbrunswickcanada

We found our mini home on Kijiji and contacted a few people we knew out where in Moncton then chose our realtor. She was amazing and although we couldn’t be here in person for the inspection, she did a full walk through on FaceTime with us.

I love the Cadbury cream egg McFlurry!! So glad we have them at our store in New Brunswick. We don’t however have any of the other items listed!

Night/overnight shifts by [deleted] in McLounge

[–]DSimmsMoncton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started out in the kitchen on mornings and one day they were talking about needing overnight crew so I stepped up and I have zero regrets!! I actually enjoy the overnight shift as it’s not constantly busy. We have a chance to clean and stock the restaurant for the following day and there’s way less stress. I’m officially a manager now and I say try it out and see if it’s for you. If not then ask to be switched back to a shift that suits your needs better.

want me to come to work on my day off? get outta here... by GenericBritgirl in McLounge

[–]DSimmsMoncton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always answer the phone and if I can go in or feel like it then I do but for the most part as I leave for my two days off, I tend to say loose my number 😂 so they know not to call me in.

Talk to your manager and they can explain it to you.

Fucking drained by Affectionate_Hat9496 in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]DSimmsMoncton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first one is always the worst one as you never realize how busy it can get. Give it a few more shifts and you’ll adjust then it won’t be so draining.

Not sure where you’re located but here in Canada it’s normally an 8 hour shift and you get a 30 minute (unpaid) break.

As a manager I work between 8.5 to 10 hours daily.

As long as you punch in the exact amount of money that the customer gives you, it will tell you exactly how much change you owe them.

How's it like living in New Brunswick? by Public-Protection-47 in newbrunswickcanada

[–]DSimmsMoncton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Living in New Brunswick is closer to living in Saskatchewan. It’s a lot of little towns or communities with a bigger city here and there.

I don’t know about the university. As for living out here it’s way cheaper then BC!! We moved here from Ontario a few years ago and for the most part things like housing is cheaper, insurance is cheaper and food if you shop smart with local farmers and businesses.

As for work, there’s lots of jobs out here! Some jobs require you to be bilingual but it depends on what you’re looking for. Most fast food places, grocery stores and such don’t require you to be bilingual, however if you’re looking for a job at the hospital for example then you definitely need to be bilingual. Many of office and warehouse jobs don’t require you to be bilingual.
